Its not as offensive if a word appears ONCE in a song... or maybe A FEW times on an album.... but over and over, that it really unneccessary. P.O.D is just as heavy (musically) as Korn... but they don't use any offensive language. Maybe thats because they're Christians.. and their music is from a Christian perspective. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Jun 2000 02:52:55 GMT From: "~* cymbaline *~" Subject: Re: ET: sublime anyone? Sublime is defunked. Bradley Nowell died before the first album was even released. Those other albums after the first album are all previous recordings from when he was alive. The remaining memebers now formed a band called the Long Beach Pub AllStars (or something like that). Sublime was more like Ska. And they did NOT curse every other second. And their not sellouts because Bradley is DEAD!! Freaking heroine overdose two days after he was married. I love the song Badfish. >From: zerocool@sunlink.net (Niki) >To: eda-thoughts@smoe.org >Subject: ET: sublime anyone? >Date: Fri, 16 Jun 2000 21:16:55 -0500 > >Whatcha guys think about Sublime... You've probably never been to a rehearsal, you've probably never watched real musicians doing their stuff and living the life. Amidst the really good musicians, the ones who study jazz and end up being really great, like Lyle Lovet, Tom Waits and those types of players, there is a real mutual knowledge and a universal ear to what is "good" and what's "crap". I've been around that since I was a little kid, my parents, my family, it's been a part of my world. KoRn is so annoying. They aren't anything. People who actually think Korn is made up of good musicians obviously don't know what they're talking about. That's all I have to say. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Jun 2000 23:34:47 -0400 (EDT) From: Seth Fulmer Subject: ET: Negative Trilogy I(poem set) Hey everyone, I was sitting on the train today all upset, mostly because of a discussion on a mailing list(this is being sent to a bunch of people other than the list) about Korn and using cursewords in music. To me, music is(meaning exactly equivalent match) poetry with notes in the background, and says something usually(not always but 99.9% of the time). I was thinking about the term hate and although one might disagree with me, you can't think about hate without thinking about love and usually the thoughts that accompany both of those are of rage and/or passion. The first of these poems is called "Hatred". The 2nd is called "The War" and the 3rd is called "Desperation". The reason I named each is in my opinion self explanatory but if you have any questions please feel free to ask. There ARE cursewords in it so if you're can't stand the heat, don't read the poetry. I am sorry if I insulted anyone as I seem to have a tendency to do things on impulse with emotion and at the time when I wrote it I really did not like the world much :/ If you don't want to receive my poems, let me know. Also, comments, questions, and the like are welcome but not necessary. Take care of yourselves muchly and I hope you have an Excellent Weekend! :o) -Seth ========================================================= Negative Trilogy I by Seth D.
