Bitter wind whipped outside the door. The icicles hanging on the roof felt a= s=20 if they were inside your body, chilling you to the core. Every part of Rena= =E2=80=99s=20 body was numb and frozen, all except her heart. Arden sat across the small=20 cabin reading his book and looking up at her every so often. Rena was so=20 happy that they finally reached Alaska. They had spent the good part of two=20 months in a car driving to Alaska. Even the frigid later November air did=20 almost nothing to dampen their spirits. They sat in silence for several long moments saying nothing; just looking at= =20 each other. Arden=E2=80=99s voice first broke the silence.=20 =E2=80=9CRena, get on your coat.=E2=80=9D With that, both Arden and Rena jum= ped up to get=20 their coats and gloves. They stepped outside into the frigid snow-covered=20 lawn of the tiny cabin. =E2=80=9CWhat are you about, Arden?=E2=80=9D =E2=80=9CJust come on,=E2=80=9D he said with an impish smile playing his lip= s. =E2=80=9CWhere are we going, Arden?=E2=80=9D =E2=80=9CYou=E2=80=99ll see,=E2=80=9D Arden answered. They started heading b= ack into the woods. =E2=80=9CDo you even know where we are going?=E2=80=9D =E2=80=9CYes, Rena.=E2=80=9D Arden grabbed her hand, making her move faster=20= in the cold=20 November air. Finally, when it seemed as if they had been walking for hours,= =20 but was only a few minutes, they came upon a large opening. The large openin= g=20 consisted of a frozen pond and snow-covered spruce trees. The sun across the= =20 sky was a brilliant purple with a subtle hint of pink. =E2=80=9CArden, it=E2=80=99s beautiful.=E2=80=9D she murmured. =E2=80=9CI know, isn=E2=80=99t it?=E2=80=9D =E2=80=9CHow did you ever find this place?=E2=80=9D =E2=80=9CChance.=E2=80=9D he said with a sly smile on his face. =E2=80=9CWhat are you up to, Arden Michael? Don=E2=80=99t make me use your l= ast name.=E2=80=9D She=20 couldn=E2=80=99t help the smile from creeping on her face. When Rena peered=20= over at=20 Arden she saw the big smile she loved. She started laughing deep within her=20 belly. A second later Arden joined in with her laughing. Before she knew it,= =20 Arden has his arms around her waist. =E2=80=9CIsn=E2=80=99t Alaska beautiful, Rena?=E2=80=9D =E2=80=9CYes it is. I want to thank you for letting me come with you.=E2=80= =9D =E2=80=9CThere=E2=80=99s no need to thank me, Rena,=E2=80=9D Arden said betw= een kisses he was laying=20 on her neck. His lips moved up to kiss her gently on the lips. =E2=80=9CI think we should go back.=E2=80=9D Once inside the cabin, warm air hit their bodies. Rena walked over to where=20 Arden was talking his coat off. They hung their coats on the rack and headed= =20 into the kitchen where Arden began making supper. After finishing their meal and taking care of the dirty dishes, Arden went=20 into the other room to sit in the over stuffed green chair. He called Rena=20 over to him. He patted his knee for her to sit on his lap. He turned her=20 around in his lap so that that he could look into her face. =E2=80=9CThat was a great supper you made us.=E2=80=9D Rena said.=20 =E2=80=9CThanks. Oh, I have something for you,=E2=80=9D Arden said with an i= mpish grin on=20 his face. =E2=80=9CWhat do you have, Arden?=E2=80=9D she said, with a just-as-devilish= smile.=20 From his pocket Arden pulled a small purple satin pouch. =E2=80=9CWill you m= arry me,=20 Rena?=E2=80=9D Rena=E2=80=99s lips trembled with surprise as she tried to get the answer of= f her=20 lips. =E2=80=9CI can=E2=80=99t Arden.=E2=80=9D she said with tears in her ey= es. =E2=80=9CWhy?=E2=80=9D =E2=80=9COh Arden, you just couldn=E2=80=99t understand.=E2=80=9D With a bitter smile on his lips he said, =E2=80=9CTry me.=E2=80=9D =E2=80=9COh Arden, it=E2=80=99s just so sudden. I want to be with you, but I= just don=E2=80=99t know=20 what I want. I do love you. Just because I said no doesn=E2=80=99t mean I do= n=E2=80=99t want=20 to be with, alright?=E2=80=9D Rena sat looking at Arden=E2=80=99s face with=20= a tear rolling=20 down her face. =E2=80=9CHey, hey, Rena it=E2=80=99s okay.=E2=80=9D Arden pulled her tighter to his chest. =E2=80=9CHey hon, lets go to bed, alright?=E2=80=9D Rena gave a small nod. **************************** Just a LITTLE different, lol. He could hear the soft chirping of morning doves.=20 Turning his eyes to his side, there lay Rena all snuggled uo next to him. H= e=20 couldn't help but smile. A feeling of pure bliss rushed over him. Wrapping=20 one arm around his sleeping lover, he lay back in the blankets for a while,= =20 he didn't want to get up for a long time. Just as Arden closed his eyes, he heard the sound of a car coming closer= =20 to their camp site. Finally, he heard the car stop, then the door slam open= =20 and closed. The stomping of someone's shoes through the leaves toward their= =20 tent grew louder and louder. "Who's there?!" Arden called out. Suddenly the face of a man about his age appeared at the door of the=20 tent!=20 "Rena! What the hell are you doing?!" Arden hadn't seen anyone so mad in=20 some=20 time. "What do you mean bursting into my tent like this?!", demanded Arden,=20 standing up and wrapping a blanket around his naked body. "George!", Rena suddenly woke up "What are you doing here?!" "Your sister told me about your little outing for the weekend!", growled= =20 George. "You're kidding?!", screamed Rena, "How could she?!" Suddenly it all made sense to Arden. "Rena!", he bursted, "You're=20 married!" "She damn well is!", snapped George. At that moment, George grabbed Rena= =20 out of the blankets, and carried her off over his sholdier, naked and=20 kicking=20 and screaming, to his car. He threw her in the front seat and locked the=20 door. Then he turned to Arden. "You'd better watch who's wife you take camping next time, you filthy=20 bastard!" At that moment he pulled a pipe bomb from his trunk, and blasted=20 the entire campsite into flames, driving off before it all exploded=20 violently. =20 Arden woke up in the hospital.=20 "Oh well, son", said the doctor, you've finally come to. Boy you had a=20 nasty accident. You're lucky to be alive, much less as good a shape you're=20 in. Nurse, let his mother in now". Arden just moaned. He'd never felt so tired in his life. "Arden!", in rushed his mother, smiling. She wrapped her arms around him= =20 and kissed him affectionately. "Oh, dear, I'm so glad you're ok! The doctor= =20 says you only have minor burns, honey, and you can leave tomorrow!" "That's great, mom", Arden murmered, rolling over in his bed". "Well is that all you have to say to me, honey?", asked his mom.=20 "No", he returned. "Well then talk to your mother, I've been worried sick!" "Mom", he said, "I think I've just realized that I'm gay". =20 the end, haha! >> - --part1_84.8426bb87.25aa93aa_boundary-- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 09 Jan 2000 21:30:33 -0500 From: shivergirl Subject: ET: ~becoming a regular~ + at times i wish it would stop delurking because the murkiness of his mind is truly a fascinating thing to study (invisibly) + the mega-public falling-out monstrous narcissism cult of poets who cut love into little blurbs of slash sentimentality obvious asynchronicity lovely warring of the contrary + "if you did not write every day, the poisons would accumulate and you would begin to die, or act crazy or both-- you must stay drunk on writing so that reality cannot destroy you" ~ray bradbury ------------------------------ End of eda-thoughts-digest V3 #9 ********************************
