Just feel good to know that it's not about me(even though I'd love to be able to play the guitar or even have a girlfriend). Many of you newer subscribers may not know this, but there was an original/first video of "You Were Meant For Me" (YWMFM) that was directed by Sean Penn, using the "Juan Patino version" from the YWMFM/Phyllis Barnaby Finally Gets A Bra promo CD. This is the same YWMFM version that is on the Rare Angels angelfood tape many of you have, and the video in no way at all resembles the 1996 video most of you have likely seen. It was filmed October 10th 1995 (the same day she taped VH1 Duets with Melissa Etheridge) and was released shortly thereafter. Anyway, for those of you that get this channel, I read in a late December USA Today that beginning on January 1st 2000, MTV2 would begin showing EVERY video that MTV aired since its' inception in the early 1980s. (Note, that is MTV2 that is airing these videos, not MTV). There are over 20,000 different videos they are running, and they are showing them in alphabetical order by title of the song, not by artist. The article in the paper said it would take until March or so to run them all, and being a "Y" song the original You Were Meant For Me video would obviously air near the end of the run of 20,000. This will be a RARE taping opportunity for collectors and folks who have not seen this video yet (like me). Could someone who gets MTV2 verify that they are doing this (airing all of the videos), and keep us posted as to when the "Y" videos begin to run? Rebecca http://www.angelfire.com/yt/rebecca ************************************************ The Road Trip "I can’t believe it. I can’t believe I am actually sitting here next to Arden. I can’t believe I am taking a road trip to Alaska, but here I am. I’m with the man I have been hopelessly falling in love with. I hope by the end of this trip we can be more than just friends," Rena thought. “Hey Arden, when do you think we can stop for a little while? Rena asked. “Um, as soon as there is another rest stop. I need to stretch my legs a bit.†“Good.†Arden looked over and saw her smiling. He felt his heart flip over. Suddenly, Rena started laughing and Arden joined in with her. How long they laughed Arden couldn’t figure out, but he felt a little less tension between them slip away. He still couldn’t believe he had asked Rena to come along. They were good friends, but Arden knew his feelings were more than just friendship. “Right there is a rest stop.†Rena pointed “So there is.†“Of course.†Rena said sarcastically. She gave him a dazzling smile and he felt his heart do that little trick again. Rena noticed the softening of his eyes. She also saw a faint blush on his cheeks. She could not believe that she had made Arden blush. The car veered to the right and they pulled into a parking lot of a lush green rest area. There was a small concrete building up ahead that Arden guessed was the bathrooms. Under an areas shaded by large trees was a cluster of picnic tables. They stepped out of the car into the chilly autumn air. Arden grabbed a cooler from the back seat and they headed to a picnic tables to eat supper. Arden broke the silence by saying “I hope you don’t mind we didn’t stop somewhere for hot food.†“Of course.†Again Arden got graced with her beautiful smile. No one could have missed the look of happiness on her face. “I’m glad you came with me, Rena.†He said as he grabbed her hands from across the table. They ate supper in peaceful silence. After eating they headed back to the car. Once he put the cooler in the car he walked around to the other side to the car where Rena stood. When he saw her, his breath caught in his throat. The setting sun made her long brown hair gleam a majestic red. When he came closer he could see a single tear slide down her face. Arden stepped in front of her and gathered her in his arms. “What is wrong, Rena?†He murmured into her hair. “I’m just so happy.†He looked her in the eyes as he wiped the single tear away. At that moment he felt the greatest urge of his life, he wanted to kiss her. Rena saw the look in his eyes too. She knew that Arden wanted to kiss her. Her hand slowly came to his face. She could feel his warm breath against her cool cheek. Slowly he closed the distance between their mouths. He gave her a soft sweet kiss on her lips. They slowly parted and he laid a kiss on her forehead. Rena wished that his arms would never let her go. Sadly he pulled back a little. Arden opened the passenger door for her and helped her in. After he got into the car and started it up he asked, “Do you mind camping tonight? I think there is a campground up the road.†“Yeah, that’s perfectly fine.†About a mile up the road they found the campground. It was an attractive little place, with a small clear lake. The sun at this point had almost set, but they managed to set up the tent. Once camp was set up they headed toward the bathhouse. On the spur of the moment Arden grabbed her hand and held it in his own. He knew this be a wonderful night just because he could be with her. Rena seemed very quiet and he hoped he didn’t scare her away with his kiss. His fears were stopped when she told him to stop for a minute, and she told him to bend down. Then she gave him the sweetest kiss possible. Arden’s arms circled her waist so that their mouths were on the same level. The kiss became little deeper. Rena pulled away, for she feared if she didn’t she would never be able to stop. She then placed a soft kiss on his neck. Back at camp Arden started a fire that took away a little bit of the chill. Rena was sitting on a large rock that was big enough for two people, by the fire. After the fire was to his liking, Arden sat down next to her. “Are you still cold, Rena?†“Just a little bit.†“Hold on a second then.†He came back from the car with a dark green blanket she knew was from his bed. He placed it in his hands, on the blanket she could smell him. “Thank you, Arden.†“Your welcome.†He placed the blanket around her shoulders and placed a soft kiss on her forehead. The light bounced off his jet-black hair and golden brown eyes. He looked beautiful in his faded jeans, scruffy boots, and a sweatshirt that was too large for him. Looking at the straight edge of his jaw and the way he was dressed, she knew she had never seen anything so beautiful. Arden gazed up at the stars, then at beautiful Rena, and lastly his gaze traveled to the fire that was burning red, orange, and a faint blue. He knew at that moment he wanted her. Not just for tonight, but forever. His strong feelings scared him. This was a woman he loved al his life, only more recently as something more. He wrapped one of his arms around her back and kissed along the line of her jaw. She turned to him and her green eyes burned into him. There was more feeling in them now, then he had ever seen in a pair of eyes in nineteen years of life. He stared kissing her, slowly at first and then deeper. Their mouths fit as one, as it they were made for each other. He drew her up now so they were standing in the circle of their arms, as the fire flickered golden and hot. They were dancing slowly to the music of the night. “Arden?†“Yes?†“I think we should go into the tent.†>> Joe's ending starts here: The next morning, Arden awoke to the the bright, glimmering sun shining through the tent window. He could hear the soft chirping of morning doves. Turning his eyes to his side, there lay Rena all snuggled uo next to him. He couldn't help but smile. A feeling of pure bliss rushed over him. Wrapping one arm around his sleeping lover, he lay back in the blankets for a while, he didn't want to get up for a long time. Just as Arden closed his eyes, he heard the sound of a car coming closer to their camp site. Finally, he heard the car stop, then the door slam open and closed. The stomping of someone's shoes through the leaves toward their tent grew louder and louder. "Who's there?!" Arden called out. Suddenly the face of a man about his age appeared at the door of the tent! "Rena! What the hell are you doing?!" Arden hadn't seen anyone so mad in some time. "What do you mean bursting into my tent like this?!", demanded Arden, standing up and wrapping a blanket around his naked body. "George!", Rena suddenly woke up "What are you doing here?!" "Your sister told me about your little outing for the weekend!", growled George. "You're kidding?!", screamed Rena, "How could she?!" Suddenly it all made sense to Arden. "Rena!", he bursted, "You're married!" "She damn well is!", snapped George. At that moment, George grabbed Rena out of the blankets, and carried her off over his sholdier, naked and kicking and screaming, to his car. He threw her in the front seat and locked the door. Then he turned to Arden. "You'd better watch who's wife you take camping next time, you filthy bastard!" At that moment he pulled a pipe bomb from his trunk, and blasted the entire campsite into flames, driving off before it all exploded violently. Arden woke up in the hospital. "Oh well, son", said the doctor, you've finally come to. Boy you had a nasty accident. You're lucky to be alive, much less as good a shape you're in. Nurse, let his mother in now". Arden just moaned. He'd never felt so tired in his life. "Arden!", in rushed his mother, smiling. She wrapped her arms around him and kissed him affectionately. "Oh, dear, I'm so glad you're ok! The doctor says you only have minor burns, honey, and you can leave tomorrow!" "That's great, mom", Arden murmered, rolling over in his bed". "Well is that all you have to say to me, honey?", asked his mom. "No", he returned. "Well then talk to your mother, I've been worried sick!" "Mom", he said, "I think I've just realized that I'm gay". the end, haha! ~*Joe Drink the Wine & Open your Eyes ------------------------------ End of eda-thoughts-digest V3 #8 ********************************
