Thats right folks, We really had a fire at the Quality Inn Hotel today, right on top of Jasons Nightclub ! I helped put it out : ) I got to the club about 3:30 pm to set up the sound and do some other things. So I'm configuring the soundboard and this guy runs in and say's "I was just riding down Nimitz Blvd and I noticed all of this smoke coming off the top of your building and it smells like paper burning." So I walked out there with him, and sure enough, now, it was not only smoke, but flames were coming off the top of the building I could see the tounges of flame licking over the sides of the roof. I promptly went back in and told the hotel staff to call the fire department and got the manager to come with keys to the floor above the lounge roof. Jason also joined us and we set off to battle the flames and save what we could of life and property. So we get up to the 3rd floor and we go into a room and begin filling wastebaskets with water. We then jumped out of the windows with our water and before the fire department arrived we had extingished the blaze. Some one had somehow caught a towel on fire and in a panic had thrown it from an upper window. The towel landed on the tar roof and was begining to burn pretty good. It seems the people were to afraid to say that they had dropped a burning towel out of their window. So they just left the hotel, to burn. It is a good thing the passer-by saw the smoke. Once that roof got burning better we would have not been able to stop it as we did . So... That was just the beggining of a very exciting evening : ) Around 8:30 the place really started packing in. Most of the musicians had signed up for slots passed 10:00 so my friend John Tofolla says " Why don't you play us a few songs and get some music going. So I'm like " O.K. I believe I will " Well I must say, I believe I gave the absolute best performance of my life ! : ) Every thing worked out so perfectly. I was very relaxed and I just let the spirit move me. Between all of the songs I was just playing all kinds of instrumental stuff. You could have heard a pin drop in the room during quiet parts, The stuff I play when I home or by myself and I always say, " Man, I wish I could do that on stage " but it's really hard to let all of those inhibitions go, ya know ? After a nine song set, the people screamed for a long time. I love that : ) And they were like ' Man thats powerful stuff " and at least one guy ( from the AWESOME Pork Rind Project ) was crying. Cooooool man . I met this really cool guy who played with Crosby Stills & Nash for two years ( I actually met him yesterday hanging out with Joy Eden Harrisons bandmate Chris, who says to tell Alan B. Hi : ) and also Niel Young, he also did an overseas tour with J Giels band. He's worked with quite a few "heavies" Anyway, turns out the fellow lives one street over from me in Ocean Beach. Cooooool again . Later on in the evening Mike Carmona came in with a really sweet EDA from Holland named Lottie. She was so cute and her and Mike sat outside for a while playing Jewel songs. Mike is the undisputed KING of Jewel covers as far as I'm concerned ! He could play them for Jewel and she would do great . Lottie seemed to know just about all of the words to many Jewel songs I've never even heard. Anyway toward the end of the night we all kind of had a big open jam that was really cool, played a bunch of led Zeppelin an such with the Love Junkies and members of PRP. To top it all off, sales were great and I finally got paid some "real" bucks. I mentioned to the bartender I was going to take a cab home, and then after packing equipment and helping others pack I said, " Do you have a speed dial # for a good cab service, and he says, " I already took care of it " So I go outside to wait and up comes this long white limo. ( his buddys limo service ) So I got to ride home in style after a near perfect evening that started with a blaze and ended with a wonderful flourish : ) Here was my setlist "for you guys who are interested in that sort of stuff." I've looked at all the other things and I may have some of the symptoms but Out of the 8 symptoms required by the DSM IV for BPD, I have like 6 all of the time and a 7th some of the time. You only need 5. I'm going to go to the clinic on campus to talk sometime and hopefully get some clue as to (a) is it that? and (b) if so...find out how to at least fix my diluded mindset. Last evening when I got back from class, I had so much anger for no reason filled up in me, and it was directed to nobody...but yet also at the same time myself. So, I wrote this poem out of anger and guilt. But then before bed I realized that I had cast myself a spell on each of the cards that when I read them I'd get an A. With this spell when I read this card I will get an A and it will be good Beauty will surround me wherever I go I changed the object before class then(after writing the cards and doing it for them) to "presentation"...When I read this presentation and then changed the tense to present because things exist in the 'now' and just chanted it under my breath as I went up the elevator and walked to class. Now, I know I'm not skilled and I didn't invoke any gods, goddesses, or other creatures, but it struck me that "I got the A"...but I didn't feel good and I felt like everyone should hate me because I was horrible...so I decided to go to sleep before I got depressed that the spell didn't work totally 100%.
