Jewel, what inspired you to write "Hands"? I believe it takes a lot of courage to be in the world, to see the pain and poverty, but yet not to become disillusioned and instead focus yourself all the more on where change is possible. Which is something I think Dr. Martin Luther King did very well. And the more I travel around the world, the more I see young kids and young adults who at such tender ages have already lost their belief in their dream, that something better is possible, that it immobilizes an entire generation.
