Atleast 25 people were killed and about the same were injured when 2 students of a highschool in Littleton Colorado went on a killing spree. These 2 boys, apart of the so called "Trenchcoat Mafia" got revenge on their peers for all the ridicule and harassment they received. It's also believed that they did this in honor of the birthday of Hitler which is today. Whatever their motive, this tragedy will live in the minds of thousands in Colorado. But this is the seventh time an injustice as this has happened within the past few years. Tormented teens are acting out on there rage and getting revenge. It needs to stop! But i don't think the teens are solely to blame. As i watched the 11 hours of TV coverage which is continuing as i write, the students and various public are saying that these "losers, outcasts, homosexuals, rejects, and unwanteds" are the killers. But i think it's attitudes like that which made these kids act out. They were verbally and physically abused on a daily basis and all the pain they received, the same was given back but on a bigger scale. The reason I'm writing today is that a near and dear friend of mine happened to attend that school. I had known her for 4 years and she died today, she was only 16! And for what, ridicule and suffering! I started an organization called P.E.A.C.C.E (the Power for Every Active Citizen to Celebrate Equality). Started in 94, this group of various religions, ethnicities, and diverse teens and adults have done every imaginable think to help this world become free of hate and prejudiced! Over 5000 of us have dedicated our lives to making sure a smile is worn rather than a gun! And it's time i start my adventure once again. But i'm not trying to promote my group but trying to get you to make a positive difference in this great world that we live in! Please, if you ever see an injustice happening, a person crying, or someone being ridiculed for any reason, do something about it! You alone can make life better for people, but everyone together can make life better for everyone! MTV is hosting an Action campaign, trying to promote basically just what i said. Tuesday, a drunk driver hit his car as he was driving his little sister home from school. The drunk guy hit Chris's car so hard that an empty kleenex box on the dashboard flew into the back seat, hitting his sister's face, and she now needs 7 stitches. Other than that, she is okay. A couple scrapes and bruises, but she's okay. On the other hand, Chris died on impact. His head went through the windsheild, and his car is completely totaled. The drunk driver walked away fine. No stitches, no cuts, nothing. Chris was the greatest guy you could ever meet. He was smart, funny, gorgeous (which doesn't matter, but still, you couldn't help but notice), intelligent, respectful, everything. He was the most awesome person i've ever had the honor of knowing. But now he's gone, and there isn't anything i can do about it. He will never know how deeply i felt for him, and i'll never get the chance to tell him. (Even if i could, there aren't exact words for it anyway.) He had a major impact on my life in the short 9 1/2 months i'd known him. Bad things should never happen to people such as Chris. But now he's dead. So if anyone that reads this is planning on going to a party and getting drunk, **please** give someone else your keys beforehand, for the sake of the others that are driving. This could have been prevented. Our own president says now's the time to realize the problem Why wasn't it realized the first time? How many more will die before it finally stops? A careless person drinks and decides to get behind the wheel A family is killed by this inconsiderate asshole who thought he could drive. People not wearing helmets collide with a car merging into traffic. A man walks home minding his own business and is struck by a distressed elderly couple. A couple of "outcasts" seek revenge and kill 25 innocent and wounding several others who they didn't even know. Who's to blame? The parents? of course not, they are perfect. The killers? no way...they were only teens...they weren't taught properly by the perfect parents. The government? that's a joke...don't you know it's not their responsibility to keep their nation safe? Can you imagine life if all this hatered and violence was turned into love? That's a concept that seems to only exist in our minds. What would happen if these great minds got together and taught the love and kindness to others? People tell you to be proud you're an American At least you have rights and freedom Are these things really important? Isn't freedom what has allowed these people to get away with murder? We debate over petty things like whether or not to move a football team to another state. No one says " hey, lets build a church and bring people together. Let's go and teach people to love and respect one another." How many lives are going to be destroyed because of the money it takes to pass and enforce laws? Is money more important than a life?
