"true love" at midnight; pressed against a hot leather seat, the lonely moon their only witness. a young girl fancies herself "in love" with the well built dream, on the football team; a toss of her blonde curls, a teasing smile she hangs longingly on his every word; he devours her, cause she's there then spits her out, like a rotten seed and with that, moves on, to his next, adoring fan. 9/18/98 - --- "She says that love is for fools who fall behind And I'm somewhere in between" ~Fuel Angelfire for your free web-based e-mail. http://www.angelfire.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Sep 1998 13:38:21 -0500 From: zerocool@sunlink.net (Niki) Subject: ET: an apology I want to apologize and thank all the people who have written responses to my poems. I wanted to join in this Vonnegut discussion since he's my absolute favorite writer...It's kind of ironic that me and Ben and Kevin all like Player Piano...yet it's meant to warn us against the dangers of technology...and here we are, all e-mailing each other. I wonder sometimes what's going to happen to the world as technology advances...it's kind of scary. Anyway, Jen- the books you got: Slapstick, Slaughter House 5, Cat's Cradle, and Hocus Pocus are all great, but I absolutely love Cat's Cradle and Slaughter House. Hocus Pocus and Slapstick were both good although I think Slapstick might seem a little weird unless you're very familiar with Vonnegut. He rated all of his books once and I think he gave Slapstick a D or something...he didn't seem too pleased with it. Anyway, I just wanted to put my two cents in on this whole Vonnegut topic : ) Melissa "Before you kill somebody, make absolutely sure he isn't well connected."-Kurt Vonnegut ------------------------------ End of eda-thoughts-digest V1 #203 **********************************
