I've been known to go a little crazy with a good idea now and then. :) > 5) What's your favorite poem of all time (Jewel or not)? > "Tonight I Can Write..." by Pablo Neruda Thanks for typing it... I've never had the opportunity (or maybe inclination... I suppose I could have if I really had thought of it when I was out at the bookstore. :) to read anything by Pablo Neruda. That one's very good... And for those of you that've never had the opportunity (inclination? :) to read Robert Frost's "Nothing Gold Can Stay" - this is it. "Nothing Gold Can Stay" Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf's a flower, But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf, So Eden sank to grief; As dawn goes down to day, So nothing gold can stay. On the first, the last line 'roaming satellites and..." it feels like it needs something, but I haven't come up with anything that fits. I had thought of 'fallen stars', and that sounds right, but doesn't make sense(right?). Anyhow...comments would be appreciated. :) deeply~ Naomi the unknown angel naomisplace@angelfire.com - ------ satellite The night sky, lonely without stars that vanish with the downtown lights the full moon, hidden from view by buildings fighting to be the tallest the only "stars" in my sky, are artificial, in the form of Roaming satellites and fallen stars. 5.23.98 - --------- judgement my flesh boils beneath their merciless scrutiny i attempt to act indifferent to their judging eyes; i've always been a bad actor. they poke and probe, disecting my very soul like i'm some kind of experiment, gone terribly wrong. they inspect the surface. my clothes, hair, skin, all the way down to the length of my nails. then they strip away my skin, deciding if i meet their standards of excellence. they pass judgement. seems i'm not good enough, for their kind. they throw me out, into the cold a "reject" stamp on my forehead and my vulnurable soul, exposed to the world. 5-26-98 - -------- i can't I wish I could pull you from the darkness, and shine a light on your soul. I wish I could say, that you'll make it through this, and things will only be better on the other side. but i can't. 5.26.98 - --------- rain. Rain. Some draw from it sadness, or lost hope. and others find peace, and comfort, in the soothing sound of the heavens kissing the earth. 5.26.98 - ---- "I've been searching for myself and I know i'll find her if I break away from everyone.." ~Alana Davis ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 May 1998 14:30:27 -0700 From: moonsong@ix.netcom.com (Us) Subject: ET: song & poem Hi Angels! First, another song quiz. :) Here it is (and what is it? Who's it by?): "what i like about you you hold me tight.... keep on whispering in my ear tell me all the things that i like to hear cause it's true that's what i like about you" Oh and that song, "oo-ee-oo I look just like Buddy Holly, oh-oh and you're Mary Tyler Moore...." That's Weezer right? Cept I forgot the title. These stations here go in phases and now they're playing it again. :) Now for my poem.... Hope ya like it. Comments are cool. =) Sam the ? angel ~*~ Only Angels In Heaven SM, 5-27-98 Streetcar stopped where I was standing I hesitated hardly at all Before jumping on, clutching the pole And trying not to fall As the tires slowly moved along The old metal rails I glanced around at my companions Just people, strong and pale But you know they always say there are only angels in heaven A hatted woman with brown bags Some boys, toys, old man and cane Holding such a tiny kitten small and gray A girl by the window pane A silent conductor pulling along People passing on the street The will of some outlived their shoes Just simple angels, so discreet Though, you know they always say there are only angels in heaven The streetcar stopped the winding road Outside my quaint domain A kind lady, laundry on flowered balcony Called out my name And the busy family residing next door As I felt for my key Sent their little girl with pigtails to give some bread to me And you know they always say there are only angels in heaven moonsong@ix.netcom.com ------------------------------ End of eda-thoughts-digest V1 #39 *********************************
