You can download anything and Everything that your little pure and innocent heart desires...Don't run it. Everything on the computer requires the user to tell it at some time to run. It can't just run "on it's own" without the user "at some time" doing something. Double clicking on an icon is doing something, and although...it may not affect anything noticeable until months down the road until some special day and time...That double clicking was your doing. It's like inviting a vampire into your home. They can't touch you inside your own home unless you invite them. My basic philosophy is "If you don't know what it is, either delete it or identify what it is before running it and then delete it if it's dangerous." If I get an attachment in my email from someone that I'm not expecting...I just delete the file. I will maybe read the email, but I delete the file without further thought. My friend Andy has already sent me this doc file of something without telling me in advance and I deleted it and like 2 seconds later he ICQed me saying to expect it. My rule is if someone's going to send me something they have to tell me in advance. I could go into more detail about other stuff I do to prevent viruses on my computer but that general philosophy goes into snail mail too...If your birthday isn't for months, Christmas and Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Anniversary, as well, why would you accept a package in the mail that you hadn't ordered or you weren't expecting from someone telling you in advance? It's only asking for disaster. Take care and Have a Great Day! :o) Seth D.
