Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960. The names Lincoln and Kennedy each contain seven letters. Both were particularly concerned with civil rights. Both wives lost children while living in the White House. Both Presidents were shot on a Friday. Both Presidents were shot in the head. Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy. Kennedy's secretary was named Lincoln. Both were assassinated by Southerners. Both were succeeded by Southerners. Both successors were named Johnson. Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808. Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908. John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839. I have been walking blindly through life for 26 years. I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank all of you. I want to say a few things. So many of us post poems on this list and ask for reviews and critiques. When the truth is if every poem you compose comes from you, If that poem is true to you. When you see things in your life or solve problems in your head, its all from within. It means what it means to you and that is what is important. my life is starting to head in the right direction because of all of you and my friends. I am beginning to realize we aren't puppets in this world. We are only puppets of ourselves.. and we have control of our actions. We all have gifts, special powers if you will. There are no words your lips can create to describe the meaning of life, only your heart can do that. I am growing new roots now A new foundation I am doing this myself I reached out for help on my own All of you held out a hand I reached out for understanding All of you listened to me I reached out for love And in all of you I received it Maybe I was offered this before in my life and I just didn't see it I thank my past loves I thank my family I thank all of you I thank music I thank my friends I thank my enemies I thank myself.
