Pease" Subject: ET: Re: una Hey Sam, > hey does anyone love joydrop? i got their album...and it kicks allll > ass! I bought their CD ("Metasexual", for those who've never heard of it... :) about a week-or-so ago... I like it all right so far... there's some really excellent songs on it, and there's some so-so stuff... but, it is growing on me the more I listen... And, in other music news... I'd also highly recommend Dido's "No Angel"... I'd describe her sound as sorta-kinda Sarah McLachlan-ish (she's got a single out, called "Here With Me", which strikes me as being *very* much like Sarah M's "Possession")... other songs on the album are kind of reminiscent of Poe (of "Angry Johnny" fame, or whatever that song was called... I forget. :) & Beth Orton. Very mellow, very good CD... Also, there's a band called Grey Eye Glances that's got 2 CD's out (that I've found, at least... :), one called "Eventide", one called "Painted Pictures"... they're also pretty darned good. The best similarity I've been able to come up with is that they sound sort of like older 10,000 Maniacs... definitely worth checking them out, some very good songs on those CDs. Kelly Willis has a new CD out, "What I Deserve," which (if you can handle country-ish music) is *really* good... I'm definitely in love with this CD... highly recommended; If you're into the Red Hot Chili Peppers, their new CD isn't so bad, either.... And finally, for those of you who have heard of her, Sarah Slean should have a new CD out within the next month or so... and for those of you who *haven't* heard of her, now you have, so you have no excuse. :) She's great, and you should go buy her CD, Universe, and 5 extra copies for friends and neighbors. I'd compare her kind of to Tori Amos, but I think I almost like her music better... tough call. Of course, she doesn't have much of a distribution, that I know of, and you'd probably have to order the CD off of her web page, www.sarahslean.com I recommend that CD highly, though. That's it. It's past my bed time, and I'm supposed to go see the Blair Witch Project tomorrow night in Boston, so from everything I've heard, I better stock up on sleep before seeing it. :) Kevin - ----------- Kevin Pease kbpease@concentric.net ICQ UIN: 3106063 AOL IM: kbpease "There's lots of things along the road / I'd surely like to see / I'd like to lean into the wind / and tell myself I'm free / but your softest whisper's louder / than the highway's call to me / So close your eyes, I'll be here in the morning..." ---(Townes Van Zandt, "I'll Be Here In The Morning")--- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Jul 1999 11:42:34 -0700 From: "Rizioule" Subject: ET: Pictures Does anyone have any pictures from the Gathering of Angels developed yet ? This is Rachel writing to you right now. I was thinking about Jewel's new single "Jupiter" and how "Down So Long" never got on the TRL countdown. I really want this single to succeed. I don't know, I guess I just feel like I should give something back to Jewel for all that she has done for me. I am sure that many of you feel the same way. Anyway as you all know Jewel's "Jupiter" is going to be premiering on TRL (Total Request Live which is on MTV for all those who aren't familiar with this show) very soon. I am announcing to you all that the day after "Jupiter" premiers on TRL is officially JUPITER VOTING DAY!!!!!!!!!!! All of us Everyday angels are going to pitch in and go to www.mtv.com, then click on shows, then click on Total Request Live, then click on play my song, and then choose JEWEL'S JUPITER on the SAME EXACT DAY FROM 2:30-3:00PM. Please start at 2:30 and you MUST end before 3:00PM because that's when they tally up all of the votes for TRL to see which video's made the top ten countdown. I think this will especially improve our chances of getting Jewel on the countdown because we will ALL (eh em, HOPEFULLY ALL) be voting on the same exact day at the same time, and remember we never did this for "Down So Long" yet one day it WAS a close call. And on the day after Jewel's video premiers we will all (again hopefully all) vote five or more times each. I really need your help. I want to help Jewel out by getting her on the countdown. Practically everyone I know watches TRL and gets familiar with all the videos on the countdown. This would really help Jewel. And even if you do not get MTV, or do not like Jewel's new single, PLEASE do it for me and all of us every day angel's!!! I also need everyone to keep posting about this SPECIAL "holiday" titled Jupiter voting day and please people, post what day "Jupiter" will be premiering on TRL so every one will know to vote on-line the DAY AFTER that!!!! Also, please someone post the phone number for total request live because there IS a phone number you can call on week-days from 2:30-3:00 to request video's. Every one will know to call from those times the day after the video is premiered. Now, for the insentive of voting? Well since we are Everyday Angels and all, if we keep up this voting and we DO get "Jupiter" on the countdown I will donate 5 hours of my time to community service. For all of those who really feel passionate about really being an EDA, you can post and say how many hours of community service YOU will donate to a charity, people, or anything IF "Jupiter" gets on the countdown. I really want to make this happen so EVERY ONE PLEASE VOTE!!! AND POST POST POST!!! Also post the info that is needed. I will be reminding every one about this. Please, whenever you post about this please put in the subject "Jupiter Voting Day" so every one knows. I really know that we can make this happen and still do some good. Cause after all, that's what we are all about. @~ Rachel ~@ Be sure to visit http://www.Garfield.com !
