Letting light seep out, Like blood. Most shine bright, But many are dull. Very similar to human lives. Some are bright and interesting, Others are dull and boring. My life is like the star Whose shiny life is Fading away. Nobody understands it, Nor can they explain it It just happens one day. To fall, And then, Die. - ------- I wrote this one day when I just wasn't feeling like myself, it's one of my favourites. Thank you for taking the time to read this... Hey! I've decided to go on a CD binge, so I was wondering if some of you music collectors out there could lend me some of your personal opinions. I was thinking about getting "The Globe Sessions" by Sheryl Crow, Rufus Wainwright's self entitled CD, and/or "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" by Sarah McLachlan. So I was wondering, if any of you out there have any of these CDs, if you could e-mail me to let me know if they're worth the buy or not. Also, I love Otis Redding, but I don't know what CD of his I should pick up, so if anyone of you would know of a good one of his, I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks for any and all help, Nik - an Aspiring Angel P.S. I'm open to different artists, also, if you could recommend any. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Jan 1999 23:29:51 -0500 From: "Kevin Pease" Subject: ET: Re: Music Fanatics: Could you lend me your opinion? >> Nik writes: >I've decided to go on a CD binge, so I was wondering if some of you >music collectors out there could lend me some of your personal opinions. >I was thinking about getting "The Globe Sessions" by Sheryl Crow, Rufus >Wainwright's self entitled CD, and/or "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" by >Sarah McLachlan. Sheryl Crow's album is (in my opinion), pretty un-memorable... I enjoyed Tuesday Night Music Club, didn't really care for her second... (how bad is that - I can't even remember its' name... :)... and the third one hasn't really grown on me, either. Fumbling Towards Ecstasy is very good (again, in my opinion)... I've yet to really *dislike* anything that Sarah has put out, although I guess I kind of lean towards her older stuff... Fumbling Towards Ecstasy is very good, though. >P.S. I'm open to different artists, also, if you could recommend any. That I can do. :) Patty Griffin has two fantastic CD's out - "Flaming Red," and "Living With Ghosts"... I'd highly recommend either to anybody. Heather Nova has like 5 or 6 CD's out ("Glow Stars", "Blow", "Live From The Milky Way", "Oyster", "Siren"... I think there's one other that I'm forgetting...) - I'd recommend any of them, she's very good. Beth Waters is someone I heard about from someone on this list, and I *really* like her stuff, it was well the wait to get it... she's from San Francisco or San Diego, I forget which right now, and so far as I know, she's still pretty local... but, if you can beg, steal, or borrow a CD or a tape of her, I think you'd probably like it. I would (hesitantly) recommend Sarah Slean's CD (Universe, I believe the name was), too... I've heard a few songs off of it, and thought they were really good, but I don't want to wholeheartedly recommend it until I've heard the whole CD - it's in the mail to me right now... hopefully, it won't disappoint. That's enough for now... don't get me started, or I may just never stop. :) Kevin - ---------- Kevin Pease kbpease@boston.crosswinds.net ICQ UIN: 3106063 AOL IM: kbpease http://www.crosswinds.net/boston/~kbpease/ "There oughta be a bridge somewhere they could dedicate to me / I'd probably come to the ceremony with a can of gasoline / then walk on over to the other side, and there I'd light a match / and sit and stare through the smoke & flames wondering how I'm gonna get back." ---(Chris Knight, "It Ain't Easy Being Me")--- ------------------------------ End of eda-thoughts-digest V2 #7 ********************************
