I'm looking for a poet that writes poems about marriage, or the joining of souls. Along those lines any ways. I've been kind of looking, but i was hoping that someone would know a poet off hand, so i could just look at that poet. Or even if someone knows of a really touching poem that has to do about marriage and could give me the name of the poem as well, it would be a great help. >> Okay...well, Anne Sexton has this section in 45 Mercy Street called the Divorce Papers...but I don't think that's what you're looking for. SO my best bet would be to check out 100 love sonnets by Pablo Neruda...there's some wedding stuff in there...it's my best suggestion Jamie ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Jun 1998 15:41:24 -0700 From: moonsong@ix.netcom.com (Us) Subject: ET: hey! OK maybe not, but what it really happens to be is the only two poems I have ever written!!! they are very short, and neither one has a title. So I would appreciate any feed back, or suggestions on titles. Untitled #1 Wild Shower liquid love slender lace bombs away Untitled #2 why you? This past week I got busy and finally finished the lyrics to two songs I've been working on for awhile. I'll but them on separate posts so the length isn't overwhelming. I hope you enjoy these...as always, feedback is greatly appreciated :) I know there's a slight problem here because I know the melody + rhythm and you don't yet, but try to enjoy anyway :) (and when I get the sheet music written out I'll try to post it) - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - ------------ this song is about love that is no longer returned: ballad tempo except a bit faster at bridge (after 2nd chorus) When I Look in Your Eyes Chilly day raindrops flurry, people hurry find a dry place to stay. Gusting breeze wind in the air, tossing my hair dancing with autumn leaves. Clouds above painting the sky, reveal to my eye the face of the one whom I love When I look in your eyes My cares fall behind, on love wings I fly to a world where I am free. When I look in your eyes The trials of today all fade away and there is only you and me When I look in your eyes "Honey I'm home" I wait for a sound, but you're not around The smile on my face grows cold. No defense I open the shades dark will not fade no music can drown out the silence longingly I look at your chair holds nothing but air from a brass frame you stare out at me When I look in your eyes My cares fall behind, on love wings I fly to a world where I am free. When I look in your eyes The trials of today all fade away and there is only you and me When I look in your eyes drive to the dock my right arm 'round an empty seat against a rock in troubled waters I dangle my feet stone in the lake ripples present a picture to see one glance I take the face that I find not you, but me When will you look in my eyes? One kiss I know I would melt you like snow love you my whole life through When will you look in my eyes? I could give you so much: a heart full of love I'm your slave, now let me serve you When I look in your eyes My cares fall behind, on love wings I fly to a world where I am free. When I look in your eyes The trials of today all fade away and there is only you and me When I look in your eyes When I look in your eyes ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Jun 1998 19:12:38 -0500 From: Mike Rusche Subject: ET: I am not You (my 2nd song) If you're still reading, thanks! I know these are long but they time in about 3 and a-half minutes, which is what I aimed for. tempo: verses + bridge between 108-120 (moderate swing tempo) chorus: about 72 (ballad) * You may need to widen the window some lines are long :) I've tried to use spaces to help show the rhythm, I hope it helps :) Here's the inspiration behind this song. I went to a small K-12 school (about 60 peopIe/class)and I got a lot of recognition for my math and drama abilities. It got to my head. About three years ago, my younger brother was on an OM team that had to build a balsa wood tower holding hundreds of pounds and create a skit around it. They went to World competiton and won. I became jealous and got mad at him, which was pretty immature. This song is loosely based on that experience: - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - --------------- I am not You I passed you on the street today I hadn't seen you in awhile Seems to me you're doing fine look at the way you wear that smile You offer me a sandwich and coffee I'm so glad you have the time Don't think success has changed you at all You're so pure and genuine There was once a time when I would wear a smile instead of this ugly sneer You share with me your past adventure I listen but do not hear I must turn away from the light on your face joyous and divine It would break your heart to see this icy stare of mine I am not you, you are not me The things that you do, I only see I should have pride for you, but it's just jealousy for I am not you, and you are not me I look back on days so far away, we were children in the park Two fish swimming in innocence feeding ducklings in the dark Youthful hope, dreams of the future: we'd be famous, we'd be stars Oh how could I have known that you'd really get that far? I am not you, you are not me The things that you do, I only see I should have pride for you, but it's just jealousy for I am not you, and you are not me ------(driving guitar in background, tempo increases heavy minor chords)--------- Go away! You found the top Go away! You found the top By your presence you torture me silently gloating o'er me Leave me alone! Leave me alone! Let me be alone! ------( guitar cresc. for 8 counts, then silence......play again, tone now much softer)--- Come back I didn't mean the things I said I didn't mean the things I felt, I didn't mean the things I said Oh, oh I wish I were you, for when I look at me I see all the failed dreams that I could not achieve and in some way I feel that the world owes me all the joys that you've lived, but I've only seen ------------------------------ End of eda-thoughts-digest V1 #56 *********************************
