It's strange and brilliant. I really liked her first, Wild & Undaunted, but this is so much more. The title track, "Hidden Seam" is amazing, and is on her website (via soundcloud), http://www.lisaknapp.co.uk Really liking the new Glasser (there's one track that sounds like what I wish Bjork was doing these days). And yes, the new Agnes Obel is truly lovely. - --Neile On Oct 9, 2013, at 7:47 AM, Jason Gordon wrote: > I also can't get enough of Natasha Kmeto's debut album > > http://www.youtube.com/v/LVpoBXH57f8 > The Torres, Tunng (as well as solo side projects Sam Genders' Diagrams Black Light and The Accidental There Were Wolves, and Mike Lindsay's Cheek Mountain Thief), Lady Lamb the Beekeeper, Austra, and Mazzy Star have been on heavy rotation (and Glasser will be to as soon as the pre-order shows up). > > -Jason > On Sun, Oct 6, 2013 at 4:39 PM, Neile Graham wrote: > On Oct 6, 2013, at 7:33 AM, JoAnn Whetsell wrote: > > > Looking back much of 2013 has been fairly lackluster in terms of new releases > > (Thea Gilmore's Regardless and Steve Martin & Edie Brickell's Love Has Come > > for You being notable exceptions). It was only available as a collection on vinyl, and the limited edition has a bonus CD of early songs of theirs I've never heard and I'm enjoying that. > > My trad/folk tastes have been met by Eliza Carthy's "greatest hits" Wayward Daughter (I also read the biography by that name) and her group project, Laylam. The Unthanks have another of their Diversions collections out, Songs from the Shipyards, which is probably my favourite of these so far. > > Also discovered Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker--she's on the lines of Sandy Denny--trad folk and her own compositions. Just as glorious a voice and just as evocative with it. There are a couple of youtube videos of her doing Sandy Denny covers and she makes them her own, but they're as good as Sandy Denny's own renditions. People have said that about many artists and for me they've all fallen short until now. > > Also enjoying Nancy Elizabeth's Dancing, though haven't been it enough to have coherent thoughts about it. > > New Glasser out in just two days!!! And looking forward to the new Psapp in November--there's a song downloadable from their website at www.psapp.net > > --Neile ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V16 #902 ***************************
