We spoke a little before the show--she explained that she's liking the collaborativeness of working as part of a band (though she did have some amusing stories about people who came to audition). I really enjoyed the show. It's still very much in the shoegaze realm, with Elaine playing electric guitar and singing. Her voice is, as ever, strong. There wasn't anything quite like "Rapture," but it's definitely loud, a bit raucous, and propulsive. Accompanying Elaine were another electric guitar, a bass, and drums. She mentioned that the bass player is going to have to leave the band soon and that she'll be looking for another bass player. I think a high soprano backing vocal playing against Elaine would really work well, but unfortunately I don't know any soprano bass players. Anybody? ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V16 #872 ***************************
