This gentleman, while comfortable in the upper register struggles with the song in the beginning. He does a fine rendition of the song but does not take it to another level nor make it his own vocally as Happy does. my 2 cents On Sunday, May 12, 2013, Michael Curry wrote: > With all apologies to Happy, I think we have a new best cover of David > Bowie's "Space Oddity." > > > "Space Oddity" as covered by Commander Chris Hadfield while on board > the International Space Station > > http://youtu.be/KaOC9danxNo > > > Bonus ecto points for piano by Emm Gryner (recorded down on Earth)! > > > > > Michael > - -- Sent from my all thumbs device. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 06 May 2013 17:11:47 -0500 From: Carolyn Andre Subject: Zoe Keating Popping out of lurkdom ... Last night I had the opportunity to see/hear a fascinating performance by Zoe Keating at Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music. (Yes, their definition of a "folk" stage is obviously quite broad and eclectic.) If the layered loops of cello don't grab your attention, becoming obsessed trying to think about how one composes, programs, and plays that effect will. Definitely worth checking out. For those so inclined or with access and bandwidth, here is about 10 minutes of last night's performance captured by someone sitting much closer than I was. http://youtu.be/OiVX9G-rC30 Regards, Carolyn Andre - --- candre@house-of-music.com Chicago, IL / USA Support Independent Music! I think its one of her most accessible performances--which isn't saying much. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jjCnKvA4IE Jeff Hanson On May 12, 2013, at 6:17 PM, Michael Curry wrote: > With all apologies to Happy, I think we have a new best cover of David > Bowie's "Space Oddity." > > > "Space Oddity" as covered by Commander Chris Hadfield while on board > the International Space Station > > http://youtu.be/KaOC9danxNo > > > Bonus ecto points for piano by Emm Gryner (recorded down on Earth)! > > > > > Michael ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V16 #771 ***************************
