Today's Subjects: ----------------- Fixing The Dawn [Robert Lovejoy ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 20 Feb 2013 22:46:39 -0500 From: Robert Lovejoy Subject: Fixing The Dawn I have a lot of very different music on my Android phone, all types and genres. I was letting it pick random songs, and it threw one out I hadn't heard in a while. It really grabbed me. Happy Rhodes' "Till The Dawn Breaks" is an epic event, a real tour-de-force of composition, arrangement, and singing. Singing! My God what a delivery. The lower register thunders while the higher tones float in the breeze. The context is epic, mythic, apocolyptic Really, has any singer ever quite matched Happy? There are so many wonderful performers out there writing and delivering some wonderful music, but I've just never heard another artist working quite the same zone of music since her unfortunate retirement from performing. I'm feeling the void, waiting for that dawn to break. Just sayin'. Uncle Ecto (will not grow up!) ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V16 #690 ***************************
