Your two best friends are getting married and you want to make them a compilation of songs. What would you put on it? :-) Curiously, Lu. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 6 Sep 2012 16:51:17 -0700 From: jessica spurling Subject: Re: Dead Can Dance NY Times live review ... I just have to disagree with this: " When Mr. Perry stepped forward, the music tumbled back to earth. The beat shifted toward slow, standard rock, while the keyboards tones turned conventional. And the lyrics were all too intelligible: As you rise to the very top of your mountain/Just remember those poor lost souls on their way down, Mr. Perry crooned melodramatically in All in Good Time. The musics abstract mystery curdled into something labored and portentous. " I know I've already mentioned it on another DCD thread - but at The Greek Theater in Berkeley, I was just as awed & in love with Brendan Perry's voice as I was with Lisa's. I *enjoyed* the difference between the two. If the show had been all Lisa all the time, I am pretty sure I'd have found it too much the same. I can see how someone might not see how these two styles can co-exist in the same show ... but for me it was utterly blissful. - -jessica On Sat, Sep 1, 2012 at 1:10 AM, heidi maier wrote: > > http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/31/arts/music/dead-can-dance-at-beacon-theater .html?_r=1&ref=music > > I thought others might like to see this! > > I am crossing my fingers and hoping they bring this show to Australia > sometime soon ... > > :) > > Heidi. ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V16 #541 ***************************
