I have an advanced copy of the new Aimee Mann, and I absolutely love it. Particularly this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jv91eqlN-SAOther interesting new releases include: - - Amanda Palmer & The Grand Theft Orchestra: Theatre is Evil (though I feel it has been hyped and hyped all Summer, and by now I am admittedly a bit tired of hearing about Amanda's Kickstarter campaign) - - Cat Power: Sun Dark Dark Dark: Who Needs Who Also, I am infatuated with the new Jesca Hoop and her EP, Snowglobe, from last year. This is a splendid song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5sAWvUZEd4 All best from Copenhagen,Leonora ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Aug 2012 03:46:56 -0700 (PDT) From: =?iso-8859-1?Q?anna_maria_stj=E4rnell?= Subject: new releases Hi.. I think Cat Power and Alanis Morrisette have new albums soon. iamamiwhoami aka Jonna Lee has one soon. That sounds like it might be good. The Knife were supposed to do one but I've not heard more about it in a while. And one by Hedningarna if anyone remembers them. anna ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Aug 2012 09:16:54 +0200 From: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?Stig_W_J=F8rgensen?= Subject: Re: ecto-digest V16 #527 I saw Niki & the Dove when they played here in Copenhagen, Denmark, earlier this year after their 'Drummer' EP was released last autumn. I think they're definitely one to watch for the future. The Kate comparisons are obvious - 'The Fox' sounds like a deliberate homage or almost some kind of medley - but they'are also part of a Swedish trend or wave, if you like, along the lines of The Knife, Fever Ray, etc. Their album 'Instinct' was released in May in Europe; CD/LP editions should be out in the U.S. by now, as they were set to release in August. I think the album compares well to Purity Ring's 'Shrines', but without PR's occasional lapses into funkiness ;-) - --Stig http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2f6UbMnlq4 Date: Thu, 23 Aug 2012 12:09:51 -0700 > From: Sue Trowbridge > Subject: Niki and the Dove > > Anyone heard Niki and the Dove? The more I listen to it, the more I love it. I also saw her live recently and it was an excellent show - I've seen her a few times now and this was definitely the best, she's got great musicians with her, drums, bass/guitar, and two backup vocals, which enables her to re-create the sound she has recorded better (especially with the vocals!) and yet, the live performance is not at all a simple replica of what is recorded. She performs many of the songs just differently enough to make the live performance really special. I highly recommend seeing her if you get the chance, and if you haven't given her new album a listen, do it! - -jessica On Sat, Aug 25, 2012 at 12:19 AM, Leonora Christina Skov < christina_skov@hotmail.com> wrote: > I'm looking much forward to the new Bat for Lashes, and Beth Orton, too.
