I agree so much with your post here. I listen to these artists to go out of boundaries, not confine to any. I read people and their thoughts on here, and expose myself to new artists and music. Thank you for posting in that spirit, 'cause I love Happy, but if everything sounded like her, I'd move on. I am obsessed with this remix of Feist's Graveyard. And by remix, I don't mean a bunch of blaring bleeps and bloops. It's done very well. Lovely and melodic and quite chilled out. The vocals are made somewhat obscured and mysterious. So, I feel compelled to share. :) http://soundcloud.com/arts-crafts/graveyard-trust-remix ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Aug 2012 21:31:06 -0400 (EDT) From: PatchKevorkian@aol.com Subject: Re: Ecto-defining albums list Gosh people, please have some consideration for those of us on digest. There are only three posts in this digest I am replying to. Two of them have very little new text ~ one had just seven new words ~ but EACH fully quoted Neile's Ecto-defining album list whose interesting and informational post leads off this digest. Is there a need to quote an entire long post when replying to the list? I can't see one. I am sure it doesn't matter to those of you that get the posts individually, but it makes a major mess out of the digests and makes them very hard to read as you have to hunt for new text. This isn't anything new, it happens all the time with this list in the time I've been lurking, but it's gotten to the point I just had to say something to perhaps freshen the concept of netiquette. (i.e. edit out unnecessary text and only leave in what you need to exemplify or support your own reply) By the way, as I was typing the above paragraph a NEW digest showed up. It has five posts, four of which entirely quote replies to Neile's post which of course themselves quoted the entire original post. Some might consider me off-base, especially since this is probably just my third or fourth post, but I am betting some other ecto-digest readers feel the same. I'm using gmail and it politely doesn't show me text I've already seen. Lovely for me. NOT GREAT for others if I don't think to expand it & delete stuff I don't need to include! sorry about that, I will try to be more thoughtful of this when replying to ecto. I definitely understand your frustration - I have had to stop reading anything by digest as a result of similar frustrations. I don't have an email reader that 'does the right thing' with digests.i suppose one might exists but I don't know about it, plus i've found the other benefits of gmail outweigh the downsides, for me. - --jessica On Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 6:31 PM, wrote: > Gosh people, please have some consideration for those of us on digest. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Aug 2012 22:09:21 -0400 From: Patch Subject: Ecto-netiquette (was Re: Ecto-defining list) Yike, no one wants that. I am way behind many of you with the diversity of artists that give meaning to "ecto-defining". I think I have maybe a dozen of the albums listed. Below are the albums I do have, if any of you can recommend a purchase from the rest Neile's list based on what I DO own or just one that really jazzes you, please send them on, other-wise I may just wing it. I didn't know this till afterward, so I was so excited, waiting for a shot of her that never came. Her voice soundds just as fantastic though. It was also a real buzz having the Dhol Foundation accompanying the song. If you ever get the chance, see them live. They're amazing! Johnny Kalsi, the lead, is also a member of Transglobal Underground and Afro Celt Soundsystem and an incredibly inspiring man.
