How does something meet that criteria? a number of different ways. Often but not *exclusively* female vocals. Often but not exclusively passionate, often but not exclusively mellow. Something really 'new' and 'different'. Something striking. Something you might not have heard of before but might like. Sometimes ecto participants will share something with ecto with the caveat "well, this isn't really 'ecto' but i just thought it was so that i wanted you to have the opportunity to hear it" and then it becomes ecto, in a way. if a bunch of folks on the list say 'yeah that's awesome', then it really is "ecto" even though you initially thought it wasn't. well, that's what I think, off the top of my head! - --jessica On Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 5:35 PM, Neile Graham wrote: > I don't really want to define it myself, or make rules that everyone might > not agree with. There are some albums on the list that I really like and would recommend to anyone to try but I don't really consider them similar in style to the "big names" I associate with "ecto". Are you looking for albums which fit into some sort of category or genre or just albums which people on the list like? Can you give some guidance on what your criteria is for "ecto defining"? thanks Mike - -----Original Message----- From: owner-ecto@smoe.org [mailto:owner-ecto@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Neile Graham Sent: August-14-12 5:22 PM To: ecto Subject: Ecto-defining albums list Hey, all-- A year ago (yes, I'm that behind with things) I put out a call for ecto-defining albums for a list to add to The Ectophiles' Guide to Good Music. This got put on hold, because we talked about setting up a proper voting system and it stalled out. I guess we'd better not count on that happening, so I'm moving forward. I think it will really add to our site to list albums we think are of particular importance to ecto. Here is what I compiled from the messages so far. Each album needs at least two votes. Below are two lists: first the lists of albums that have received seconds and will definitely be on the list; then the list of other nominees that need at least one more vote to be added to it. NOTE: when a name is listed with "release??" it means someone nominated the artist generally without specifying a particular release. We MUST have the name of a particular release for the name to be added. Please second the ones you agree with. You can also nominate additional albums, but they do need a seconder to be on the list.
