Don't look at me; I was lying on my couch and later bed with the laptop on my lap. I'm still in a bit of a fog. I was up until midnight and slept until almost noon today. The sound was fine on our TV, except for Russell Brand going off-key at the start of his performance. That was painful. Initially, the sound was missing top notes. Suggs certainly has sounded better; he came off as hoarse as McCartney did in the opening ceremonies. But then the sound improved a lot. That was better than most of what they chose to broadcast in the U.S., even if Kate was not performing live. Inserting commercials hawking crap at regular intervals destroyed any rhythm the ceremonies had as well as deleting huge sections of the proceedings. It was tape delay. What would have been the harm in picking up the broadcast where they left off? ...an infuriating trend carried out during the entire two weeks of coverage.... and a predictably horrific failure on the part of American Network Television, for whom the Olympics (and everything else) are just a vehicle to sell Coca Cola.B ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Aug 2012 04:03:40 -0700 (PDT) From: Ellen Rawson Subject: British icons, not a piss take - --- On Mon, 8/13/12, Birdie Breeze wrote: > I gathered it was a joke.... > > They in the costumes from the 60's and Batman being > out-of-shape... > > Just a piss take. Thank you people so much for allowing me a way to hear that Kate Bush song! I found it bad form that NBC cut for advertisements right in the middle of longer swim races to remind that it's a tape delay. I agree with the person pointing out it was a spoiler to announce Eric Idle before we could see him. I guess they thought we wouldn't know who he was so that had to prepare us lol.
