For me, it was Quincy Jones 1982 album "The Dude", which had such an amazing sound it totally blew me away. "Ai No Corrida" blasted a large audiophile hole through my brain, and I keep coming back to that record to test new HiFi equipment, digital or otherwise. Everything about the sound on that album was just soooooo perfect I still long for its time. And John Robinson had never sounded so good on drums before. I have to give a shoutout to Steely Dan's "Gaucho", and especially the song "Babylon Sister" which is also a clear milestone of fantastic production and music perfection.
