Since then, I've been listening a lot to her new CD "The Color of Water", which sounds nothing like the show. It's big and grandiose, with a hint of Loreena McKennitt's Middle Eastern offerings, a touch of Peter Gabriel and Azam Ali/Niyaz. (Mamak was once the lead singer of Axiom of Choice and Niyaz is something of an offspring of that band too.) Here are some links: http://www.mamak-khadem.com/ A grand performance at the Rainforest Festival in Malaysia: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAZWmfXKP3g A studio version of the same track (one of my faves on the CD): http://youtu.be/8iJPNACu0kI The two versions are pretty different, but an interesting contrast. neal ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Apr 2012 04:34:44 -0400 From: Paul Blair Subject: Re: question for the ecto collective mind You guys go on about butterflies but don't mention Happy Rhodes' "The Wretches Gone Awry," in which a dragonfly also appears. Happy also pulls the bugs from death in "I Say" and "just wanted to bug ya" at the end of Rhodesongs. Kevin Bartlett's "Spiders (Euro Variety)" is on Aural Gratification 1. I have to thank you all; I knew this was the place to ask. Between my own list, input from my co-editor, and suggestions both on the list and emailed privately, my list has grown to 111 songs, plus Mirah's entire buggy concept album Share This Place (which has songs like "Emergence of the Primary Larva" :) The goal is to look up everything I can find on youtube and start posting those to the JoUE facebook account, and to set up a playlist somewhere. So of course, we can always use more. In a few days I'll post up the list-to-date. Thanks again, to all of you. Not to mention the classic (and very strange) "I know an old lady (who swallowed a fly)". Heh, and the Who's "Boris the Spider". Oh, and Bowie's "Glass Spider" -- amazing lyrics to that. That's what pops to mind, but I know there's more in my collection. OH, yeah, "The Fly" by Wire and "Human Fly" by the Cramps -- I was in a group once that played those two as together on toy instruments -- ah, the glory days... > > 'tah. > -g > > -- www.gregorynormanbossert.com -- > -- www.suddensound.com -- > - -- brni i don't want the world, i just want your half. http://www.kappamaki.com/ http://brni.livejournal.com/ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Apr 2012 03:00:01 -0400 (EDT) From: Mike Matthews Subject: Today's your birthday, friends... i*i*i*i*i*i i*i*i*i*i*i *************** *****HAPPY********* **************BIRTHDAY********* *************************************************** *************************************************************************** ******************** Brion McIntosh (no Email address) ******************** ******************* Marcel Kshensky (no Email address) ******************** *********************** Bill Mazur (wpm@value.net) ************************ *************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Brion McIntosh Sun April 06 1958 Aries Marcel Kshensky Thu April 06 1950 Aries Bill Mazur Mon April 06 1953 Aries Sun/Cancer Rising David Dixon Tue April 07 1970 Aries Heidi Heller Mon April 08 1974 Aries Jill Hughes Sat April 09 1955 Aries Klaus Kluge Sun April 10 1960 Unicorn Steve VanDevender Sun April 10 1966 Racer Art Liestman Fri April 10 1953 Repeat Stephen Golden Sat April 10 1971 Jokey Michael Bowman Wed April 11 1962 Aries Wolfgang Ullwer Fri April 11 1969 Widder Janet Kirsch Thu April 11 1974 Aries Kristen Scallion Fri April 12 1974 Aries Jerry Tue April 13 1971 Aries Stuart Myerburg Mon April 14 1969 Aries T-Bone Wed April 15 1992 happy cat Jeff Hanson Sat April 16 1966 Aries Michael Klouda Mon April 17 1967 Aries Noe Venable Tue April 20 1976 Aries Harry Foster Sat April 21 1956 NiceGuy Kjetil Torgrim Homme Thu April 23 1970 Taurus Jeff Burka Thu April 24 1969 GoFlyAKite Christine Waite Tue April 25 1972 Taurus Matt Adams Thu April 26 1962 Taurus Brad Hutchinson Tue April 28 1964 What sign?
