That being said, I've been a big fan ever since I first heard the first recordings they made, and was lucky enough to see them on their recent Australian tour and they were great. I think a lot of Ecto folk would like them. Do check out their EPs/album and check them out live, if you have the chance! :) Heidi. Many. To start with something a little different, a modern classical composer - - Ludovico Einaudi. Start with his earlier stuff and work your way through. Ancora is probably one of my favourites of his - very simple, but something I can easily get lost in for a very happy 12:10. You will have heard a lot of his stuff already if you have ever been near a TV which has the BBC on - someone in their musical department *really* likes his stuff and seems to add it to anything/everything they possibly can. Mozart's Magic Flute is one of my all time favourite works - a fantastic piece to listen to, but well worth seeing (the ENO does it fairly often) as it is gloriously pantomime. Anything that is heavily cello based gets a thumbs-up from me. Dvorak and the inevitable Bach turn up a lot. I'm currently listening to a fair amount of Wagner, which is the point at which I'm sure I'm going to lose some people. :-) The Brilliant Classics label does box-sets of composers works, either complete or "best of" (Masterworks, ISTR). Something like this is listening heaven: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bach-Complete-Edition-157-DVD/dp/B003MRN6PY/ref=pd_sim_sbs_m_h__1 I've got the Bach, Mozart and Beethoven complete works and the Dvorak Masterworks; months worth of listening and discovery. (Side note: it is worth shopping around on these box sets, I've seen the prices fluctuate significantly in a few weeks - or at least they were a few years ago when I bought them.) I've found that Spotify has a reasonable collection of classical, or at least I've always been able to find what I want on it. I'll be taking the recommendations from others as this week's listening at work. Here ends my annual post to Ecto. ;-) Rob ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Apr 2012 13:39:12 +0000 From: "Varker, Patrick" Subject: Insects I remember a song by Paul McCartney & Wings called (I believe) Dragonfly.
