I have seen her mentioned before, but I don't usually enjoy live albums much, and her Live at the Olympia-album was all I could find. So I gave her a miss. However, her new album Changeling isn't a live album, and also it's available from emusic, so now I have downloaded the whole thing and I absolutely love it. It reminds me of the quieter moments on Amanda Palmer's Who Killed Amanda Palmer? The two singers seem to be inspired by the same people - Kurt Weill, Jacques Brel, PJ Harvey. Camille's album is mostly slow and quiet, but it doesn't sound samey to me, and there are great burlesque undertones throughout. I am not familiar with the original versions of the songs she covers except Revelator, Hurt, and the Ship Song, and overall, it doesn't bother me that it's a cover album. She manages to turn every song into her own. I expect great things for Ana Silvera this year http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSbT4bAYcQo And I love this song by Markita Irglova http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anIaAcPugzo&ob=av2e Finally, I am loving the Swedish band I Break Horses. They remind me of Cocteau Twins http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Sg7YkPnEYw All best from Berlin, Leonora In my dreams I am not crippled.
