I have some questions about the roll-out of Facebook's new layout. I know a lot of people here are on Facebook, and I feel more comfortable asking about it here than posting there. So I know that when the new layout is announced (one article said this happened yesterday, but I don't know if that's true or not since I haven't seen it confirmed elsewhere) we have 7 days to go through our old posts and delete anything we don't want to appear in the timeline. I haven't heard anything about how to actually do that. And what if you miss something or change your mind? That stuff will be in the timeline forever, and you can't change your mind? What about new posts? Maybe you're angry and you say something you later regret? Or something you post is misinterpreted? Will you be allowed to delete stuff in the future? I haven't seen answers to any of these questions, so if someone knows anything or can point me somewhere, I'd really appreciate it. I'm amending my own to include Agnes Obel's Philharmonic's and Sarah Jarosz's Follow Me Down. And I've been checking out some of the artists mentioned (love the Gudrid Hansdottir especially). I'm going to compile the lists, and they should be up in the Guide soon. But if you were planning to make a list, no worries; I can always amend. Soo much energy. It's also the first CD I ever got, a Christmas present one year. Both of Ane Brun's live albums are excellent - Live in Scandinavia (more stark) and Live at Stockholm Concert Hall (more full band). I would go with Live in Scandinavia if I had to pick just one. I love all of the following, but especially these starred ones. *Brandi Carlile - Live at Benaroya Concert Hall with the Seattle Symphony *Emmylou Harris - Spyboy *Holly Cole - It Happened One Night Annbjorg Lien - Aliens Alive (Nordic Hardanger fiddle music by a neo-traditional fiddler) Blame Sally - Live No. 1 Dresden Dolls - A Is for Accident Edie Carey - Come Close: the (live) photo album Julia Fordham - That's Live Shakira - MTv Unplugged Sia - Lady Croissant Holly McNarland - Live Stuff The Waifs - A Brief History Already mentioned albums that I enthusiastically recommend as well: 10,000 Maniacs - MTv Unplugged Jonatha Brooke - Live Tori Amos - To Venus and Back, disc 2 Melissa Ferrick - Melissa Ferrick + 1 Indigo Girls - 1200 Curfews Ani DiFranco - Living in Clip Thea Gilmore - Recorded Delivery Indigo Girls and Ani DiFranco have both released 2 fine live albums, and Melissa Ferrick has released 3. I think the ones mentioned are probably the best, but they're all good. Also would recommend adding Dead Can Dance's Toward the Within. I also think Wendy Rule's latest live album does a good job of capturing the spirit of her live performances - Live at the Castle on the Hill Also looking forward to Holly Cole's new Live CD/DVD out in February, and second the recommendation of Count Your Blessings--probably my most played live album. Also second Veda's Auditorium and Jane Siberry's Child/Lips/Tree series is a lot of fun too. n.p. - nothing n.r. If you search for Timeline within facebook you should be able to find a video that will show you how it works, as well as allow you to try it and get it--even before its pushed out to your profile. I don't think its really any different than how it works today other than its easier to go back in time . You can go back in time now--it just takes a lot of scrolling. I updated to timeline myself the other day and actually like it. I think it makes it easier to go back to find certain posts. You can still hide stuff by type or by application. It isn't always immediately obvious how to do it, but its not too difficult. (For instance you can hide a lot of the gaming stuff if you don't want it appearing on your wall). Not sure how you get it back if you later wanted it to appear, but that so far hasn't been a concern. To me, the people who have the most to lose are those that have spent a lot of time configuring how their home page looks. If you are just using facebook defaults, then its not a big change. At least that's my .02. My impression overall is that everyone hates change regardless so they're gonna complain. To me I like Timeline because it organizes your profile page by time so you can quickly go back in time, as well as by content type (for example, all my spotify posts together, all my game posts together if I want them posted, etc.) Otherwise I don't see what the big deal is. Oddly, one of my all-time fave live albums is hardly ecto, but is Genesis' first live album. Odd, because most fans go for the later Seconds Out, which doesn't do all that for me. There's something about that live version of The Knife that just takes off for me. Ecto-wise, I can only echo those gone before: Thea Gilmore's Recorded Delivery and Veda Hille's Women in (E)motion (I love the version of 26 Years on that). I'd also put in a vote for Jonatha Brooke's first live album (just "Live", if I remember correctly) which was her testament of faith once her label had dropped her. It sounds warm, intimate and fun. I'd also put in a vote for the Indigo Girls' 1200 Curfews, which captures them at their peak (IMHO). Oh, and the Voices on the Verge album -- not sure if it counts, but the version of Jess Klein's I'll Be All Right really benefits from those breathtaking live harmonies.
