Gotta say, itbs been a hell of a good year for new music, whatever the hell of everything else might be. Obviously, Fiona Applebs new album has led to some traffic here, as has the new Agnes Obel and Lanterns on the Lake. I have to say, Ibm totally smitten with Lanterns on the Lake, which Ibd somehow overlooked in the past (were they ever discussed on ecto before _Spook the Herd_ came out?) and have been listening to their latest (and many of their earlier releases!) quite regularly. Agnesb _Myopia_ is quite lovely as well and actually calls Happy to mind for me, especially on bIsland of Doom.b But therebs been a lot of great other stuff too. Top of my list is the sophomore release from Long Neck, _Worldbs Strongest Dog_. Their _Will This Do?_ was my top album of 2018 and this does not disappoint. Many of the new songs also appear on their live Audiotree session, but in great new studio recordings. If you missed Vanessa Carltonbs outstanding _Liberman_ (or the live release, _Liberman Live_) a few years ago, shebs back with another great collection, _Love is an Art_ Another longtime ecto fave (solo and with her prior band, Weeping Tile), Sarah Harmer, released her first album in ages, _Are You Gone_ and Ibve been spinning that a lot too. A couple of weeks ago, Tanya Donnelly started the Sunday Series, releasing a cover each sunday, with proceeds given to various charitable causes. The first track was bAs Tears Go Byb and itbs beautiful. And Ibve really enjoyed two instrumental albums. One of piano noodling by Charlotte Martin, _Dawn_, and one of piano noodling and some strings by Sarah Fimm, _There Thy Beauty Lies_. Both are very chill, especially when compared to some of their earlier vocal work, and quite lovely. Ibm sure there are others, but thatbs whatbs been helping keep me a little more sane! jeff ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V16 #2764 ****************************
