They've been one of my favorites, and I enjoy the record, but Merrill's very messy and cringey attempts to finally directly address their longstanding issues around white privilege and cultural colonization have colored the record for me. Some of the albums I still need to give more attention are Anna Hausswollf's, Lucy Dacus, Inara George, Mary Gauthier, Kim Richey, Joan as Police Woman, Alela Diane, Brandi Carlile & Lissie. ~Tim On Mon, Apr 30, 2018 at 4:14 PM, Jon Wesley Huff wrote: > So far, my 2018 has been a lot of: > > Tracey Thorn, Record > Ionnalee, Everyone Afraid To Be Forgotten > Janelle Monae, Dirty Computer > > I really JUST started listening to the new Laura Veirs. > > I feel like the rest has been sort of catching up on stuff I missed in 2017 > > > > > On Mon, Apr 30, 2018 at 1:45 PM, Tim Jones-Yelvington > > wrote: > > > Ive been listening the most tob > > Janelle Monae, Dirty Computer > > Kimbra, Primal Heart > > Half Waif, Lavender > > Wye Oak, The Louder I Call, The Faster it Runs > > Kali Uchis, Isolation > > Tracey Thorn, Record > > Laura Veirs, The Lookout > > Meshell Ndegeocello, Ventriloquism > > > > > > How about others? > > > > ~TIm ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Apr 2018 17:05:42 -0600 From: Jeff Hanson Subject: Re: 2018 so far My 2018 so far has been listening to Minute-Taker (just discovered him this year) Kim Wildebs here come the aliens The LYNNeS - heartbreak song for the radio (Lynn Miles and Lynne Hanson) Holly Colebs Holly Brandi Carlisle and Tracy Thorns new ones Just got Robin McKellebs new one too-great jazzy vocalist Sent from my iPhone On Apr 30, 2018, at 4:19 PM, Tim Jones-Yelvington wrote: I went back thru my spotify saves and realized that I also spent a good amount of time back in January listening to the tuneyards' newest, which I'd completely forgotten about.
