Today's Subjects: ----------------- new releases i'm enjoying, and some changes on my side [Seneca Spurling <] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Tue, 6 Feb 2018 16:33:41 -0800 From: Seneca Spurling Subject: new releases i'm enjoying, and some changes on my side Hi ecto, I wanted to mention a couple of new releases I've been enjoying. Claire Diterzi has been mentioned on ecto before but my introduction to her was hew new release L'Arbre en Poche. This is probably the most unusual and interesting new music I've heard in a long time. I don't know much about this album yet and I'm not quite sure what I'm listening to, but about half of it is absolutely stunning, with these incredible voices, operatic singing as well as electronic music sounds, but a lot else going on as well. I've only heard it a couple of times and need to learn more about it, but wanted to share it with you all. It's just amazing! I'm also really enjoying the new Django Django, Marble Skies. It's as fun as I want them to be. We put it on one night and started jumping around the room. It was perfect. And the latest from First Aid Kit exceeded my expectations. I was worried that Ruins would be, well, to be honest, boring. But I'm finding it quite lovely, reminds me of why I got into them in the first place, yet sounds new and is somehow satisfying. Looking forward to more listens of this one. I didn't get to see them live when they kicked off their tour in Oakland recently, but my wife Elbe did get to go and she said it was a good show. We've seen them live before, and the last time, they were both exhausted. I'm sorry to have missed them at the start of their tour. Now, as for changes - this will be my last email to ecto from this email address. I've changed my first name to Seneca. I've been using Seneca for a year and a half now, and will be changing it legally. My new email address is seneca.spurling@gmail.com. If you've been around since the old days, you've seen me through quite the name history. From Jessica Koeppel Dembski to Jessica Koeppel to Jessica Spurling to Seneca Spurling. I'm the same person, though, for better or worse :) Also I use they/them pronouns. I doubt it'll come up on the list, but if it does, I ask that you use they/them pronouns for me, but know that I'm not going to get angry or upset if you forget. I just ask that if I gently correct you, you try to remember next time. - -seneca ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V16 #2198 ****************************
