Today's Subjects: ----------------- new albums [JoAnn Whetsell ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sat, 29 Apr 2017 19:35:00 +0000 From: JoAnn Whetsell Subject: new albums The Cranberries are back with Something Else, mostly acoustic versions of their hits. Not sure when this was recorded, but it's pretty good. Juliana Hatfield also released a new album yesterday, Pussycat. Haven't had a chance to listen to this one all the way through yet. Sufjan Stevens' live version of Carrie & Lowell is out. You can listen to the whole thing online at http://music.sufjan.com/album/carrie-lowell-live and watch the concert on Youtube. I haven't listened to Carrie & Lowell recently so can't compare, but this live album seems beautiful and intense. NPR has two albums (due out May 5) available for listen: Juana Molina- Halo http://www.npr.org/2017/04/27/525546136/first-listen-juana-molina-halo and Various Artists - Cover Stories: Brandi Carlile Celebrates 10 Years of The Story http://www.npr.org/2017/04/27/525545932/first-listen-various-artists-brandi-c arliles-cover-stories, with varied singers covering the entire album The Story. Those kinds of albums can be hit and miss, and some tracks here I like better than others, but overall I'm very impressed with the high quality of the album and how much I've been enjoying it. All proceeds go to the charity War Child UK. Enjoy! JoAnn ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V16 #1993 ****************************
