(Neile, I'll be sending this to you soon with some changes to previous years.) First, my own rather belated list, which is definitely not what it would have been at the end of 2009/beginning of 2010 since I only discovered some of the albums later last year. Still... Bat for Lashes - Two Suns Imogen Heap - Ellipse Thea Gilmore - Recorded Delivery Jesca Hoop - Hunting My Dress Petracovich - Crepusculo Rodrigo y Gabriela - 11:11 Regina Spektor - Far St. Vincent - Actor Vienna Teng - Inland Territory Carla Werner - My Lover's Ghost Honorable Mentions Brandi Carlile - Give Up the Ghost Alela Diane - To Be Sill A Fine Frenzy - Bomb in a Birdcage Owl City - Ocean Eyes Jenny Owen Youngs - Transmitter Failure For all ecto, we had 15 lists and 238 nominations. Impressively, Bat for Lashes was mentioned on 2/3 of the lists, which I thought was unprecedented, but apparently not. In 2005, Kate Bush's Aerial was mentioned on 3/4 (6 of 8) of the lists, and in 2008 both Goldfrapp's Seventh Tree and Veda Hille's This Riot Life were mentioned on 3/4 (8 of 12) of the lists. Anyway... 10 mentions Bat for Lashes Two Suns 8 mentions Imogen Heap Ellipse 7 mentions Katy Carr Coquette Fever Ray Fever Ray Florence + The Machine Lungs 6 mentions Jesca Hoop Hunting My Dress Vienna Teng Inland Territory 4 mentions Neko Case Middle Cyclone Thea Gilmore Recorded Delivery 3 mentions The Decemberists The Hazards of Love Elizabeth and the Catapult Taller Children Metric Fantasies Miranda Lee Richards Light of X Carina Round Things You Should Know EP Regina Spektor - Far The Unthanks Heres the Tender Coming 2 mentions Tori Amos Abnormally Attracted to Sin the bird and the bee Ray Guns Are Not Just the Future Camera Obscura My Maudlin Career Clare and the Reasons Arrow Alela Diane - To Be Still Nancy Elizabeth - Wrought Iron A Fine Frenzy - Bomb in a Birdcage Fight Like Apes Fight Like Apes and the Mystery of the Golden Medallion Charlotte Gainsbourg - IRM Melody Gardot - My One and Only Thrill PJ Harvey and John Parrish A Woman A Man Walked By Jewel - Lullaby Norah Jones - The Fall Gaba Kulka - Hat, Rabbit Lady Gaga The Fame Monster Erin McKeown Hundreds of Lions Owl City - Ocean Eyes The Paper Raincoat The Paper Raincoat Petracovich - Crepusculo Sarah Slean and the Art of Time Ensemble Black Flowers Soap & Skin Lovetune for Vacuum St. Vincent - Actor Anna Ternheim Leaving on a Mayday Astrid Williamson Here Come the Vikings Jenny Owen Youngs - Transmitter Failure ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 03 Sep 2011 13:31:31 -0400 From: Robert Lovejoy Subject: Re: Mimi Goese Just curious, how does one pronouce Goese? I love that CD! Nice one Jeff. I thought of Brigid Boden, but it looks like she has released a second that instantly disappeared and became unavailable. How about artists that have released only one good album! :) neal On Jan 10, 2011, at 8:33 AM, Jeff Hanson wrote: > I'd nominate Kindness of Strangers, one of the Rutkowski (Diedre or > Louise?) > sisters project (who > > did vocals for This Mortal Coil.B Had one excellent album, HOPE,B > then seemed > to disapper. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Jan 2011 12:16:42 -0500 From: Sarah Morayati Subject: Re: Starting the EctoGuide bests lists: one-album wonders Does Kristy Thirsk count?
