Happy just sent me this to pass along to anyone who might be interested. I know that includes you all! ============================================= RHODES ON THE ROAD Ibm back on the farm just in time for the cold. Itbs good to be home, I have to admit, but I canbt deny how much fun I had out in the big world these last few weeks. The world IS big you know. Every time I venture out into it, I realize how small I am. As you may already know, Ibve just completed a short tour with The Security Project. The brilliant musicians of whom this group is comprised are; Trey Gunn, Jerry Marotta, Michael Cozzi and David Jameson. Ibd crossed paths with Trey and Jerry over the years but I had never met Michael or David. Having spent this past chunk of time with these men now, I can honestly write that I would call each of them a great friend. Itbs a precious thing to be able to work with people who are so talented as well as just genuinely good human beings. A brief history b Back in October of 2015, Trey invited Bob and me to see the Security Project perform at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, my old haunt, (for any who donbt know, my husband Bob Muller toured with Trey in the late 90bs and early 2000bs.) In 2015 of course, the Security Project was fronted by the incredible Brian Cummings. Bob and I had a great time and I secretly said to myself, bI wish I could do something like that.b Fast forward to August 2016. Trey calls me and asks what I would think about maybe singing for The Security Project. Now, picture me on a sunny afternoon, sitting outside with the phone to my ear, my face looking like a statue from Easter Islandb&b&the thought bubble over my head read, bCome again?b The first question was the same one I think a lot of fans of TSP asked, bA woman singing Gabriel?b Well Trey did some elaborating and we hung up. My kneejerk reaction was the same as it always isb&.Nope. No way. I love my life under the rock. But this time I only partly felt that way. This time, I knew that I would end up saying hell yes. Best decision ever. After the shows, I had the privilege of meeting so many people. Old fans, new fans, fans who were btweens the first time they saw me. Many of you asked the same question, bWhen are you going to tour doing your material again?b The short answer is not any time soon. I know that sounds a little fatalistic, but I want to be honest with you. The next thing I do will be to write and record. If I tour again in support of my own music, it would be after releasing another CD. And even then, itbs more likely that Ibd do a one-off concert than to do an actual tour. Having written that, I also want to continue working with The Security Project. The music speaks for itself. The people, including the talented Robert Frazza, the pithy Kristen Scalia and the wonderful Connor Milton are so worth knowing. In short, it makes me happy. Happy is good. Thank you all who attended the shows and all who could not, but may in the future. I feel your support and it definitely pushes the blood through my veins. HR ================================================= Happy also added "If anyone has very specific questions about the tour, I'd be happy to answer them." I can make up sort of an FAQ about the tour. Post in this thread with your question. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Nov 2016 01:12:28 -0500 From: "robert bristow-johnson" Subject: Re: Message from Happy (via Vickie) whatta nice thing to read the night before the shitstorm. - ---------------------------- Original Message ---------------------------- Subject: Message from Happy (via Vickie) From: "Steve VanDevender" Date: Tue, November 8, 2016 12:58 am To: ecto@smoe.org - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Vickie posted this in the "Happy Rhodes fans" Facebook group but since > it says "pass along to anyone who might be interested" I'm sure it's > approved for posting to Ecto too. > > ============================================= > > MESSAGE FROM HAPPY!! > > Happy just sent me this to pass along to anyone who might be > interested.
