Today's Subjects: ----------------- Newish [Karen Hester ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Thu, 28 Jul 2016 14:02:38 -0400 From: Karen Hester Subject: Newish Lou Rhodes, of Lamb, lovely album 'Theyesandeye' - song All the Birds - - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGiRXRdBjvs Faun Fables album - 'Born of the Sun', song YDUN has creepy pagan video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_vYbAClZCI 'All the Miles' from Maya Isacowitz. Slightly older song from the album - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4IUNu7BCN0, one of the more folky tracks. New Lori McKenna due soon, called 'The Bird and the Rifle.' Last month's 'Undercurrent' by Sarah Jarosz is less bluegrass/mandolin/banjo-prodigy-instrumentalist and more guitar/folk-singer-songwriter. Here's 'House of Mercy' - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofNDjpsVtYw. I enjoyed Case/Lang/Veirs live at a ridiculously undersold concert. They should market themselves as Neko/KD/Laura Veirs at the very least! There were clearly KD fans and then the decade younger Neko/Laura fans. Lovely harmonies, but their solo songs were all stronger. KD is so much fun with her dancing and flirting with the audience, and that voice is wonderful live even if (like me) you aren't a fan of her songs. She played the banjo too - "a chick magnet." There was lots of the loose humorous banter that Neko & Kelly fans are familiar with. Laura Veirs rocked out and her glasses went flying, which they all found amusing.
