Today's Subjects: ----------------- Lisa Fischer and Grand Baton [Phil Sainty ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sun, 12 Jun 2016 22:22:36 +1200 From: Phil Sainty Subject: Lisa Fischer and Grand Baton I just had the absolute pleasure of seeing Lisa Fischer and band play live, and can only urge others to do likewise should you have the opportunity. I was a little stunned to see her name on a poster a few days ago, as it had seemed apparent in "20 Feet From Stardom" that she really was happiest staying the backing singer role. I would have to hazard a guess that the current change of scene is an outcome of that film, but I really don't know*. Her voice is extraordinary -- but I knew that already. Her band (Grand Baton) are superb, but one might anticipate that too. What came as a delightful surprise was how entertaining and *funny* she is on stage. In fact it's almost bewildering how good a performer she is in the spotlight. So keep your eyes out for Lisa Fischer and Grand Baton -- because that was one of the best shows I've seen in a long time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtjcaixS-h4 - -Phil (*) http://lisafischermusic.com/about/ would seem to confirm that. ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V16 #1725 ****************************
