It starts off seeing a bit poppy but does get stranger as it goes along. Still her voice is incredible on it. Ibm also pleased to see that the cast recording of the show she did with Amiel Gladstone, Evgeni Onegin, is now available for pre-sale on her website. Therebs an article about the show here: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/onegin-a-vancouver-take-on-a-classic-russian-love-story-1.3504889 Good news about Garmarna! New stuff Ibve been listening tob&.other than Veda which Ibve been playing a lotb&. School of the Seven Bells - SVIIB - a now defunct group made up of twin sistersbone of whom left the band in 2010, and a guy who died of lymphona in 2013. The most recent album was made before he died. They remind me of the energy of Book of Love mixed with Lush. MaMuse - a folky group that reminds me a lot of PobGirl - been listening to some of their older albums, particularly All The Way Rising Appalachia - looking forward to seeing them next week ANONHI - not bad, but prefer Antony and the Johnsons Jeff > On May 13, 2016, at 12:25 PM, Neile Graham wrote: > > http://m.music.cbc.ca/First-Play/blogs/2016/5/First-Play-Veda-Hille-Love-Wave > s > > We have the supporters' download and have been taking it in. > > Also news: Radiohead and the new Garmarna is out, at least on iTunes > > Time to make some listening time. > > --Neile > > Sent from my iPhone ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 May 2016 12:19:52 -0700 From: Gregory Bossert Subject: Re: First listen for Veda's new album > On May 13, 2016, at 12:14 PM, neile wrote: > > Has anyone heard the new Beth Orton? ooh! > I always preferred her electronic > music and Mojo magazine says that's what this one is, but they only give > it 3 stars. hmm. count me curious. - -- www.gregorynormanbossert.com -- - -- www.suddensound.com -- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 May 2016 00:02:48 -0500 From: Kerry White Subject: Re: First listen for Veda's new album (and other mini reviews) Garmarna - 6 . Some bits of Bel Canto going on. Those who did not like Vengeance will be disappointed. Electric all over. Dance music that, at least, is fiddle in the hills dancing and not at a disco. I think. I have not watched anyone dance since Dick Clark's Banstand. On Fri, May 13, 2016 at 4:22 PM, JoAnn Whetsell wrote: > Ooh, thanks for the heads up on the new Beth Orton.
