I have a ticket to see Heather Nova this coming Tuesday. Tuesday also happens to be my book club night, and I really don't want to miss book club. I'm hoping I can drop in to book club for a short visit and leave early and still catch Heather Nova. I believe there is someone opening for her (Chris Riffle). Those of you who've seen her on this tour, did you see her with an opener? should I expect her to go on about an hour after "show time"? doors are at 7, show at 8, do you think it is OK if I aim to get there at 9? - -jessica ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Apr 2016 12:13:12 -0700 From: Gregory Bossert Subject: Re: Heather Nova tour Ooooh! My bad - I figured I was the last one to find out about it... but I'm glad you got to see her. In Ann Arbor (and I assume most of the US tour?) it was just her and Arnulf, who was magnificent. I remember hearing a clip from a solo live show once, where an audience member requested Sugar; she laughed, and said something like "On acoustic guitar? That would be rockin'..." But that's pretty much what she did for her encore Monday and it was quite powerful. When I saw her in 1998, it was with full expectations that I'd never get to see her tour again; and it was delightful to get another chance. Yeah, it was an 8-hour round trip, but I'd do it again just to hear that voice once more. I couldn't believe she played a small, intimate show at the Lovin' Cup coffee house..... Many long time fans in attendance. Incredible performance and the guy accompanying her was amazing. They did allow videotaping as long as it was discreet, so I was able to capture the show by just sitting the camera on the table. I'll purchase the Rochester show and probably one where she performed Starman since there is very little change in the set lists.
