And welcome to the third Intermittent Report, becoming ever more intermittent. I suppose I could change it to Yearly Report. Or challenge myself to file a Quarterly Report. But then you'd have to hear a lot more about dreams and the eating habits of my family. That doesn't seem good. Let's stick with Intermittent. There's too much news that isn't news in the world already. > > New Things > I just noticed that the two projects I started writing in Berlin in the fall of 2013 are both going to see the light of day next spring. This is very satisfying to my checklist mentality. Onegin (written with Amiel Gladstone) will open at the Arts Club Theatre in March. It has been truly wild to immerse myself in youthful romance and grand melodies in our attempt to scale this Russian mountain. Onegin is based on the long poem by Pushkin and the opera by Tchaikovsky. I think I can promise some big feelings and an absence of Russian accents. > > And then a new record: Love Waves is now mixed, soon to be mastered, and thrown at the world. We're looking at an April/May release, although those lovely souls who have bought them in advance will get their special copies a little sooner than that. (You can still do this! Here: http://vedahille.com/shop/pre-sale/new-album-untitled/) Writing this album I got into remembering the great synth-y records I loved when I was a teenager. But I don't really think it sounds like that. Maybe it does. Whatevs, I love it, and I don't want to talk about it, I just look forward to pushing it out of the house. I made it with my good old band and my new bff John Collins, looking out the window at the industrial port of downtown Vancouver. That's us on the masthead of this Report, in a photo by Kate Henderson. > > Other Stuff > Hey, the Mayor of Vancouver is giving me a prize! Although really it is from the music community in our town. Thanks friends. And Mayor. And then I got to give a prize to someone "emerging". I like to think of Adrian Teacher coming slowly out of his shell over the last decade. His bands are great, he does exciting things, plus he teaches kids. Winner! Prizes are nice. If I gave book prizes I would give one to my friend Jessa Crispin's The Dead Ladies Project. She writes beautifully about despair, ex-pats, champagne, and cows. Pick it up. It's like Eat Pray Love for freaks, so obviously not like EPL at all. > > Soon > Part of the reason this Report took a while is that I was trying to get some stuff done to tell you about. I didn't manage the following: putting up some new/old songs on soundcloud and getting This Riot Life and Kildeer up for download at vedahille.com. These things will happen soon. Ish. How about I aim for Christmas? Keep an eye on the site around Christmas if you possibly can. Also soon: East Van Panto. Now with more Falco covers. The only other thing is that I took a chance on a new haircut and it has made me REALLY HAPPY. So that's my winter advice to you. Try out that new haircut, and sew a new patch on your old coat. Bingo. You look great. > > End Report > > Copyright ) 2015 Veda Hille Music Company, All rights reserved. > You are receiving this email because you asked for it, or because Veda thought you might be interested. > > Our mailing address is: > Veda Hille Music Company > PO Box 21547 > 1424 Commercial Drive > Vancouver, BC V5L 5G2 > Canada > > Add us to your address book > > > unsubscribe from this list update subscription preferences ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V16 #1546 ****************************
