I'm so glad I went to the Jane Siberry show last night, and if you're at all a fan of hers and she's coming to your town, I'd recommend it. She's certainly quirky, but absolutely amazing. She made mistakes here and there, forgetting words at times, but both she herself and her band handled these moments gracefully and they did not detract from my enjoyment of the show, if anything perhaps they actually added to it. She's very funny, and she's simply truly an incredible artist. The show was a mix of poetry/storytelling set to music and told in Jane's unique sing-song way, and a few distinct songs. All of her backup band were excellent. One of my favorite moments musically was when ALL of them were singing, even the pianist, Peter Kiesewalter. Both Rebecca Jenkins and Ali Hughes performed solo songs and both were impressive. Rebecca sang on When I Was A Boy. Hearing her voice and Jane's intertwined again is lovely. Cellist Kevin Fox rounded out the band. I also really liked it when he added his vocals - I believe he has some solo work that I'll have to check out. Many thanks to ecto list-mate Rachel Simmons for inspiring me to join her for the show! - -jessica On Tue, Nov 25, 2014 at 8:32 AM, Tim Jones-Yelvington wrote: > I feel like her off-the-deep-ended-ness has hampered the listenability of > her records (the three queens trilogy) in recent years, but her live shows > remain quite compelling.
