This is a hard one to define, but because we need to be talking about the same group of artists, let's say, in general, three main releases or fewer (non-main would include demo releases, live albums, EPs, etc.) First off, does this sound reasonable? We could at some time also start lists of best new artists each year, but let's think about this for now because I can think of so many lists we could make... As usual, let's please limit this to 10 max. My list (today) in no particular order: Smoke Fairies Tune-Yards Emma McKenna Glasser Agnes Obel Lia Ices Felix Lisa Knapp Melissa Laveaux Chloe Charles - --Neile ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Apr 2014 19:11:20 -0700 From: jessica spurling Subject: Re: Call for favourite new artists Neile, you totally rock for keeping these kinds of conversations going. I've been loving Chloe Charles, so glad to have discovered her! I don't know if I could do a list of 10 "newish in 2014" artist! i will have to give this one some thought! - -jessica On Tue, Apr 29, 2014 at 4:21 PM, Neile Graham wrote: > Hi, all-- > > Can we continue from what rose up in our discussion of favourite artists > and start a list for the Ectophiles' Guide of favourite new artists (circa > 2014, because I'm sure this is a list that will definitely shift over time!) > > This is a hard one to define, but because we need to be talking about the > same group of artists, let's say, in general, three main releases or fewer > (non-main would include demo releases, live albums, EPs, etc.) > > First off, does this sound reasonable? > > We could at some time also start lists of best new artists each year, but > let's think about this for now because I can think of so many lists we > could make... > > As usual, let's please limit this to 10 max. > > My list (today) in no particular order: > > Smoke Fairies > Tune-Yards > Emma McKenna > Glasser > Agnes Obel > Lia Ices > Felix > Lisa Knapp > Melissa Laveaux > Chloe Charles > > --Neile ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V16 #1090 ****************************
