I imagined these as the songs she would listen to. The recordings began on lazy Sunday afternoons in windblown weatherboard homes in the Blue Mountains of Australia and feature my friends playing resophonic guitars, banjos, burnished horns, spooky musical saws, violins, creaky boards and dusty boots. > > The songs are a mix of traditional folk and original songs penned while living with my sister in the mountains influenced by Appalachian mountain music and a touch of '50s romance. I have no idea why my muse presented me with this style of music, but I loved singing it and found it a refuge for broken hearts and lonely nights." > > INGA LIVE DATES > 18 Apr Lawson Mechanical Hall, Lawson [w/trio] > 19 Apr Django Bar, Sydney [trio] GO > 20 Apr Avoca Beach House, Sydney [trio] GO > 23 May Venue 505, Sydney Launch [full band] GO > 24 May Kindlehill Performance Space, Blue Mnts [full band] GO > > > STEVE KILBEY > In Conversation > You may remember a few years back Inga Liljestrvm hit the stage with iconic Australian band The Church, band guitarist Marty Wilson-Piper describing Inga as "Australia's best kept secret." So "The Dreaming" is like "The Little Mermaid"? "Running Up That Hill" compares with "Herbie Goes Bananas"? You have the proper amount of suction.*/ Jim, you out there dear? Just keep your posts to the list, please. I have no interest in any of your mails, privately. The film that Kate's music is in, was directed by Martha Coolidge, one of THE most respected woman directors in the business. It was a comedy (not your type), and starred Geena Davis. It is called 'Angie'. It is what is classified as being a woman's picture. It would never be confused with a typical animated Disney film. Kate approves all the projects that her music is used in, and good for her. As for you....
