Seeing all of the ecto albums nominated here over the past few days was like a stroll down memory lane -- it made me think which ones I still listen to and which ones I've forgotten or lost interest in. Anyone want to contribute their own picks? Funnily enough I'd have put R.E.M. in the first category but I really like their new album, the first one I've enjoyed in, gulp, about 15 years. Grew away from with age? Tori Amos. No longer follow, but still remember the good times? Any number of 80s bands which are, amazingly, still together, like Duran Duran, Human League, the Go-Gos and the Bangles. Stick by no matter what? Roxy Music, my all time favorite band, who recently toured the U.K. I'll pay any price if they ever do another reunion tour in the States. And of course I'd always buy a Happy album if she ever decided to release new music! - --Sue ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 May 2011 17:41:25 -0500 From: Paul Jensen Subject: Re: Bands you broke up with Interesting topic! 2 artists come to mind immediately, for me: Juliana Hatfield and Bjork. Juliana's music entered my life when I was 14. She had an enormous impact in my life at the time. It was the first time I heard music that I could truly relate to emotionally. Looking back, her work seems a little amateur-ish, and not as mind-blowing as it was at the time. Of course, when you're a teenager, everything is so heightened! Still, she was with me during some dark times in my life, and I'll never forget her for it. Her latest album almost won me back, but it ended up being kinda forgettable. :-( Bjork entered my life at age 15, and we've enjoyed many happy years together. But, honestly, I haven't liked much of her stuff since "Vespertine". Her voice kinda irritates me now, actually. :-( Paul - -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "This is the time.
