De-lurking here, looking for some help identifying a song. My friends were unable to help but the talent pool of people here is probably a lot better at this sort of thing, so I'm trying you folks next. I'm trying to make out the song being played in the background of a crappy video. It's got a lot of hiss, so SoundHound and Shazam are unable to pick it out. Googling for the lyrics isn't working, either, leading me to believe it's a local band playing one of their own songs. The video may be 3-5 years old, and the song could be even older than that, of course. It's got a very funk-a-delic beat to it, which is what's drawn me to it. This seems to be the chorus (words in brackets I'm unsure of): Pass the ammunition Retire [the] [submission], baby Yeah, wash the blood from their hands The time has come for action Here are a couple of verses, all in a row as far as I can tell (the video gets a bit choppy at times): Can't you feel it Something in the air Too many people dying And living in despair A million different viewpoints All crying out for [shame] Running out of patience And looking for the [pain] [(Here we all are now)] whoa-o-o [chorus] Other snippets I can pick out: (this may be the first line of the song) Do you remember Love the distant thunder [...] You don't know the FBI Re-ev-o-lution Thunder on the pavement Riot in LA I've extracted the audio (the quality is hideous -- I've warned you) and can send individuals a link if you're interested. It jumps around a lot for the first 50 seconds or so; lots of starts and stops in the video and consequently in the audio. Vocals start around 0:33. To me it sounds like a local band doing a live version of one of their songs. But I can also almost hear Grace Slick in there, so it's not like it's a crap song or the band has no talent. It's just a really, really band recording. Thanks for the help, folks! - -- Regards, joe Joe Casadonte jcasadonte@northbound-train.com ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V15 #297 ***************************
