You should come out here for a show! Kind of late to plan for next weekend, but it's in a really sweet 150 seat listening room. She will be back in Santa Fe in February for a conference on Creativity and Madness, which is thematically linked to her new project (which I can' t wait to hear from next weekend!). http://www.creativityandmadness.com/2010/santa-fe-february-2011/ Not sure if there will be a show that weekend or not. But The Wailin' Jennys are here, so there is already some good music that weekend. neal On Nov 27, 2010, at 11:51 PM, Michael Mendelson wrote: > Well I see from her website she is supposed to play the Skirball in > April... > different but at least its local. I've really been enjoying the new Faun Fables though. I read a review that called it a weird tangent off of British folk rock mixed with American primitivism, which sounds about right. There are some fun videos from older releases on their web site: http://www.faunfables.net/ But you'll have to go to the label (Drag City) to hear some of the new stuff (or see that the album exists at all!): http://www.dragcity.com/products/light-of-a-vaster-dark neal ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Nov 2010 14:55:13 -0500 From: meredith Subject: Re: Susan Dates -- Why no LA Hi, On 11/27/10 10:55 PM, Michael Mendelson wrote: > I can never understand why artists like this come all the way to Calif but never > make it to LA? The problem with LA is, if you don't already have enough fans to fill a venue, it's going to be *really* hard to get a performance slot, especially on a Friday or Saturday night. And you need to have a pre-existing personal relationship with the bookers of the major clubs (Hotel Cafe etc.) to have a prayer of getting in there any night of the week. LA is such a closed secret society when it comes to its music venues, it's disgusting. As Birdie pointed out, you need to have a lot of lead time and a free Tuesday or Wednesday night in order to get your toe in the LA door. Susan only recently got a new booking agent, so I'm sure she didn't have a lot of lead time to put this tour together. (Got a living room big enough to host her for a house concert? Get in touch with her and take matters into your own hands! :) Meredith :) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Nov 2010 23:29:23 -0500 From: Doug Subject: Re: Sarah McLachlan upcoming We saw her pre-Lilith and during Lilith 3 times, and those were excellent. Not sure about her these days, but IMO she's definitely worth seeing at least once. She has one of the most expressive faces I've ever seen. Try to get an up-front seat. - --Doug On Wed, Nov 24, 2010 at 4:14 PM, Paul Blair wrote: > Sarah McLachlan is coming to the Beacon Theater in NYC. I've never seen > Sarah play live.
