Yes, I've been enjoying it too. Just like in case of any other sister/brother duo I can think of, (george spring to mind!) I enjoy the girl's parts a whole lot more than the guys' numbers which I usually end up deleting/skipping over. So to me her solo record is just the good parts, without the filler :) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 27 Nov 2010 19:55:19 -0800 (PST) From: Michael Mendelson Subject: Susan Dates -- Why no LA I can never understand why artists like this come all the way to Calif but never make it to LA? I mean it's only the 2nd largest city in the country... surely they can find a venue and a few fans? If nothing else, I am sure she could sell out Hotel Cafe or McCabes in about 10 seconds, although I'm sure she could play a much bigger venue. Doesn't she have some kind of booking agent who can set this up for her? Seems like a real missed opportunity. Does anyone on this list have a way to ask Susan why she can't fit in a show in LA in her so-called "West Coast Tour"? Thanks and looking forward to the inevitable Top 10 Albums of the Decade Lists! - -mjm From: Susan McKeown Date: Thu, Nov 25, 2010 at 5:20 PM Subject: [susanmckeown-announce] Singing in the West Dear Folks, I'm writing from Portland, Oregon: Jason Sypher is already here and Ryan McGiver and Eamon O'Leary are heading out west today so that tomorrow we can begin our west coast tour of Singing in the Dark. At many of these performances I have invited some wonderful people who are leaders in the mental health community to talk about the work they do and so I'm really looking forward to hearing what they have to say. While on the road I'm starting to put together plans for the Irish launch of the album in the first week in March in Ireland. I'll have copies with me when I tour with Lorin Sklamberg in Germany, Denmark and Austria in March. Hope to see you along the way. Hotel Cafe - the booking que starts on sunday nights. Unless you are a known local draw, then maybe you could get in on a tuesday night - if coming from out-of-town. But everyone basically starts their relationship with Hotel Cafe on sunday nights. McCabes - like Hotel Cafe - is booked pretty afar in advance. Either place is prone to booking known fave acts on the weekends. Molly Malone's (Irish pub} might be a good place for her... You cannot push the bookers - they get back to peeps when they make their decisions, and you should give them plenty of lead time... So.... It just rolls like that...
