[kerrywhite@webtv.net (kerry white)] Re: natalie merchant's leave your sleep [Paul Jensen Subject: Re: natalie merchant's leave your sleep I have mixed feelings on this album, too. It's a huge, ambitious project, and isn't very easily accessible - even for a long-time Natalie Merchant fan like myself. There's no doubting the amount of talent and love that was pushed into this project - over 100 musicians helped create the wide variety of genres on display, and you can sense Natalie's emotion and attachment to the songs through her delivery. However, it's definitely a mixed bag, for me. Natalie would have benefited from an editor, cutting tracks left-and-right. With that said, there are still some excellent songs on here that keep me coming back. Around 11 tracks, I would say. This may have been in my top 10 albums of the year if it had been edited down to just those. The rest are dull, or musically or lyrically annoying to me, for various reasons. It's not the love-fest I hoped it would be, but I'd still encourage Natalie fans to pick through the album to find its few gems. Paul - -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "This is the time.
