I am not too worried about it, as I have both Kapersky and Defender and know they are active. No-one seems worried about both running, so I'll keep both and ignore another windows warning. I have both restore and a reset. One for going back a few days and one in case of dire straits (non-knoppler[sp?]): all the way back to factory setting. I guess the back a few days should be enough (?) Maybe I will put all photos on a disc, just in case. Thanks, all, bye, KrW I'm Peter Pan! I'm perpetually young!! OW!! So I'll bring it to you. A few added points, just for fun: - - Artists must be alive and currently working (i.e. not retired.) - - They must not have explicitly. categorically turned doing Lilith Fair down in the past. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Jul 2010 16:22:15 -0400 From: Steve Molla Subject: Re: OT: Ecto-wiki: Computers I recommend having *2* external hard drives, and putting all of your music files on BOTH of them. That way, you can leave them off your computer/laptop, saving that space for programs & such. Having 2 external drives (same files on both) ensures that you have that backup copy. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Jul 2010 16:02:46 -0700 From: Birdie Subject: Kate Havnevik - The Livingroom 28 August 10pm (sat) Kate Havnevik back in NY from Norway 28 August 2010 10pm The Livingroom ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Jul 2010 20:41:20 -0400 From: Subject: re:computers For backing up an external hard drive is the way to go these days, more capacity and faster than CDs/DVDs. I use Acronis backup software. It will make a compressed image of the entire hard drive, operating system and all. If I have a failure I can put in a new drive, restore from the image, and I'm back in business. I've also used this to replace aging drives before they have a chance to fail. I also back up data files just by copying them to an external drive, that way I only need to do the complete backup if I've made a major change to the operating system or installed software, and I can backup my data such as music and video much more often. - --------------------------------------------------------------------- Web mail provided by NuNet, Inc. It doesn't actually back up your music and documents and all that. I'd recommend looking into sspan's suggestions.
