(we're skipping over the fact that i still have a turntable set up...) i am listening to "The Dreaming" now, after all the talk in the documentary of it being "a failure"... hah, i say, hah! In one particular scene near the end there was a wonderful cover of the oft-covered Randy Newman song Feels Like Home and after this 54-year old big lug was all teary-eyed for about the 12th time, I decided to look into the artist. Not at all surprising to me, I had never heard of her. Irish-born 37 year-old Brit, Edwina Hayes. After listening to some bits from it on iTunes, I hope to grab her 2008 acoustic CD "Pour Me A Drink" (her 2nd release) tomorrow, but in the mean time am wondering if any of you out there have heard of her etc. etc. etc and have any input about her. I googled her with smoe.org as a site and got zero hits so it appears she's never been mentioned here before. http://www.myspace.com/edwinahayes http://www.edwinahayes.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edwina_Hayes Feels Like Home, cover by Edwina Hayes - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTd1GnXrl1Y&feature=related Mike P.S The films stars William Baldwin, Cameron Diaz, Jaso Patric, Abigail Breslin (as the "sisters keeper"), an unknown (Sofia Vassilieva) as the sister (GREAT job in this part) and has a very performance by Joan Cusak as a judge. Some might consider this film a bit too much in a variety of ways, but I liked it. ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V15 #137 ***************************
