I've seen them live here in England, and they're a lot of fun live. But I still miss their former pianist, Belinda O'Hooley. If you have any intererest in either traditional or new folk (their music is a kind of blend of both playing off each other) I highly recommend them. My favourite is their most recent album, _The Tender Coming_, but all three that I have are really, really good. - --Neile On Tue, 11 May 2010, robert bristow-johnson wrote: > kinda interesting female fronted band from the UK. heard them on NPR > today. > > http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=126743321 > > -- > > r b-j rbj@audioimagination.com > > "Imagination is more important than knowledge." ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 May 2010 20:35:50 -0400 From: robert bristow-johnson Subject: Buke and Gass check out The Loudest Miniature Fuzz at http://www.wnyc.org/shows/radiolab/ they're kinda raunchy, but cute. - -- r b-j rbj@audioimagination.com "Imagination is more important than knowledge." ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 May 2010 20:57:27 -0400 (GMT-04:00) From: valrichardson@igc.org Subject: New Clogs CD: The Creatures in the Garden of Lady Walton I've just been listening to the latest CD by Clogs: _The Creatures in the Garden of Lady Walton_, which is particularly ecto-centric. Most of Clogs' music is instrumental, and they are probably most accurately described as an "avant-garde chamber ensemble." The newest CD has many more vocal tracks, with My Brightest Diamond's Shara Worden taking the lead on several of them. I first met the members of Clogs, whose members are mostly classically trained, when they were students at the Yale School of Music and playing small venues around New Haven. They are now often referred to as The National's "side project" since Bryce Dessner is a member of both groups, and Clogs members have performed extensively on the last two National releases. You can hear a half hour interview with Clogs (and Shara Worden) on WNYC here: http://beta.wnyc.org/shows/soundcheck/2010/mar/22/clogs/ - --Valerie Richardson ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V15 #117 ***************************
