Hardest year ever to make a top albums list. Top albums: 1) Lovespirals "Future Past" 2) Beck Sian - Luminous Wings and Unseen Things - she is Kate Bush's cousin. 3) The Mary Dream - this Kind of Life 4) Michele De Wilton - Myths & Legends. It's piano instrumental, but gorgeous. 5) Sierra Swan - Girl Who Cried Wolf. Everybody and their mother reviewed Ladyland, but her albums have been amazing since. 6) Sara Haze - My Personal Sky 7) Nox Arcana - Winter's Eve. Not female singers related, but very soothing and might be appreciated by some here. 8) Sora - Heartwood 9) Phildel - Tales from the Moonsea. Haven't heard of Phildel? Check her out pronto! 10) Leddra Chapman - Telling Tales 11) Paper Aeroplanes - the Day we Ran Into The Sea 12) Sinead Madden - Honey Promises 13) Sleepthief - Labryinthe Heart Some amazing discoveries I've made in 09: Sara Haze Leddra Chapman Olivia Broadfield Allison Geddie Ellie Williams Magicfolk Autumn grieve Albums that are worth checking out too: The Woodlands - self titled Sunset Wings - Covering for Solace Artesia - Lldaw Vocame - Kassia Rebsie Fairholm - Seven Star Green Amanda Zelina - Love me Til I'm Me Again Honeybreath - Overcoat The Blueflowers - Watercolor Ghost Town Balligomingo - Under an Endless Sky Samara Lubelski - Future Slip Blind Divine - Breathing Spell I'll stop now, but if anyone else wants some more recs LOL, I'll toss them out. Happy 2010! I believe she's doing much better these days. It's been a long time since I've enjoyed her in live performance - but, an acoustic concert she gave at Antone's (in Austin), paired only with guitarist Ted Barnes was sublime. And, I saw her at Lilith Fair with full band, a very different show, but lots of fun. She's told some of my favourite jokes on stage, as well as charming musically. Have fun if you go! best wishes of 2010, to all ( : cheers, Ad ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 6 Jan 2010 02:53:15 -0800 From: Adam Kimmel Subject: Tori interview in Guardian I'm sure some of you will have had sight of this but, just in case: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2010/jan/04/tori-amos-musician Nothing I'm sure that fans don't know, but pretty interesting Adam K B ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 6 Jan 2010 13:30:56 -0500 From: Karen Hester Subject: Re: Spinnerette I'm not a fan but was sad when the Distillers broke up and Brody Dalle disappeared into motherhood. Good she's back. Is this less 'punk' and a bit more, um, tuneful? K From: Doug > Subject: Spinnerette > > Any other Spinnerette fans on the list? I guess she's not exactly > "ecto" but man, I just discovered her and now I can't stop listening. > Wow. ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V15 #4 *************************
